Hello Everyone,

I have been running Designzzz - Free Useful Resources for Designers, Developers and Photographers from lats 3 years now. and was doing extremely good with a PR 6 and 800K+ traffic monthly, but 6 months ago it started falling and falling badly.. now i am down to 350K total impressions :{ per month.

I have been blaming penguin for this and been talking to google reps continously over it. they assured me that my site is not under any type of manual spam etc.

Then i begin think and i realized taht was exactly the time when i launched a few subdomains as sub parts of my site like coding.designzzz.com , wordpress.designzzz.com , photograph.designzzz.com , shop.designzzz.com in the making...

now is the part that i can't undo these subdomains.. what should i do ?

my search traffic is almost killed.

I seriously need insight on this guys :

thanks in advance!

Ayaz

I'm not an expert, but I'm not sure the subdomains are the issue. I recently read something published by Google where they said that they intended to start treating subdomains like subdirectories.

you can just delete those subdomains in your control panel.

However, I do not see the subdomains being the main cause of the sites decline.

Google has rolled out a lot of updates and these updates are more likely the cause instead of the subdomains you mentioned.

In that case what do you think could be the reason for dropped rankings and search results?

Not enough information to even guess why your traffic dropped.

I highly doubt the subdomains are the reason though.

Google said you are not under any manual penalties, but that does not mean you are not being hampered by algorithmic filters. Penguin could be hurting your site. It's not a manual penalty.

The other thing to look at is your rankings. If you were ranking really well for a couple of really high volume keywords and dropped even just 1-2 spots, you could see a traffic loss of 25-50% easily.

Subdomains is definitely not the cause, it is just coincidental that it happened at the same time. It could be that many other websites in the same niche started ranking higher than yours. It happened to my site. I was ranking pretty high for some keywords, but then one fine day, traffic started dropping. I noticed that, my site was still up there, but the rankings were not so well, and several other good ones were ranking better than mine.

I see, then what did you do to make things better again ?
