I bought a domain with pr4,
checked it was ok with seoquake and backlinks check, left it lying around for a couple of weeks. When i go there now, its a pr of N/A.
When I check through spyglass it still has all links pointing to it .

What could have happened? Can you tell me all the possible scenarios?
1) Could google have seen there was no content on the page that all links were linking to and dropped the pr?
2) Seller bought links and dropped them after sale? Something else?

that depends where you "left it lying around"

the PR might come back when you add some unique content.

Yeah i just posted some content on the blog tonight, trying to use the same anchor text in content that the original backlinks had.

When i say "lying around" means there simply was no content on the site at that time.
Domain was dropped, owner deleted content. Its blank, I didnt post new content to it until tonight.

Could have been crawled and discovered there was nothing there.

Owner does not have to delete content on a dropped domain. The content can still be at his hosting service but the DNS no longer points to it.

What happened is common. If you do not set up the site it will fall out of the index. If a site is no longer in the index then it will show N/A. when the site is recrawled and indexed even with one sentence of content it will show back up after it is reindexed.

It has nothing to do with unique content. You could put up a default installation of wordpress and add no other content add it will come right back.
