You can consider them as 5% of an overall 100% typical SEO strategy.

The word wiki has nothing to do with SEO, what matters is, is the wiki your posting on an authority site?

Most wiki links are bad, IMO. Plus, wiki-link spammers are usually just ruining the wiki for everyone, by filling it with junk and creating work for the real wiki editors.

Links from Wikipedia are great. Links from most other wikis are absolute crap.

      Hey,

In your experience, finding an expired domain on Wikipedia and doing a 301 redirect to my main website is a good idea?

It's not that difficult at all actually. I would say about 1.5% of my traffic comes from Wikipedia. Even though they are no follow, they do help the serps.

According to me it doesn't matter how many wikis you have, you need to post them on authority websites so that you can get some advantage of it.

I've never had any significant success with them. Post on authority sites is the way to go

Wiki links may not contribute all the link juice in the world, but the same pretty much applies to most types of backlinks these days. You can still go ahead and post articles to these wiki sites; it still diversifies your backlinks overall which is a good SEO contributor.

I have almost 30 links on Wikipedia that I built in 2011, all I did was hijack high PR pages content (lol). There's a way to hijack content & have Wikipedia approve it.

I'll tell mine. I find orphan pages that are 6 degrees of separation in my niche.
Post my authoritative sounding domain. Having a non spammy domain seems
to help on other pages as well. Every once in a while I throw something on
the floor there, and see if the cat licks it up. Or is that toss it on the wall
      and see if it sticks?

If you can get dofollow Wiki Links, then only go for it. It plays a very minute part in SEO and people hardly think of getting Wiki Links when they are thinking of ranking a website.

If your talking about automated wiki spamming, I would say no, and to avoid it entirely.

Most of those links that are built are actually created blogs under your username, and not actually adding an entry to the Wiki. 99.99% of these sites don't have a single article on them that is worth reading, about any subject.

Find sites that act as an information source and get links on them. Wikipedia is the obvious one. Wikia has thousands of niche specific wiki's set up underneath their brand.

There are good wiki's out there, but you won't be able to get a link on them through any type of automated tool.
