Setting up a blog network, questions

Hello,

I am in the process of setting up a blog network but had a couple questions. I have been finding some high PR domains for sale but some of them have awful domain authority and no backlinks. Does this matter? I know some fake their PR but I have been checking manually.

So if it has a high PR but low authority such as 10-15 is it still good to add to the network? Pretty new to this but figured I would give it a shot.

    If the domain authority is awful, that usually means the PR is not real.

    The ONLY way to be relatively sure the PR is real is to check the backlinks. You cannot just use OpenSite Explorer, Ahrefs, or any other backlink index. You have to make sure the backlinks with PR are actually still in existence. If they have disappeared, the PR has already too. You just won't see it until the next PR update.

      and backlinkwatch.com to quickly see if there are any backlinks

      I was figuring that the domain authority could somehow be affected because the domains I was looking at were expired and no longer had content or pages on the sites.

      What would be a decent domain authority for say a pr 3 or pr 4 website?

      I really appreciate the help!

        Probably a DA of 30+.

        backlinkwatch.com is a giant POS. Absolutely worthless.

        prchecker.info is ok, but do not rely on it to determine if the PR is real or not.

    okay thanks, yeah backlink watch isnt the best but was using to see if it showed any backlinks at all. Have seen people recommend SEO spyglass so I guess I will give that a try.

    If you have a batch of URLs you can do a quick PR check with the SEO Quake plugin for Firefox (free).

    Save all your links on the desktop txt file, open Firefox with SEO Quake running, then go to the small drop down arrow next to the SEO Quake icon (top/right of browser window) "Check/Compare URLs & domains...", paste all your URLs into the popup box. Click the "Request Parameters" button, then sort the page by highest PR.

    You can then export the sorted URLs/PR to a .csv file If needed.

    Like Mike said, you still need to manually verify that any links still exist on the live web pages.

      Just fire up seo spyglass. Even the free version can help you evaluate the backlink profile.

    DA is a pretty useless metric tbh. Although yes, the chances that you have a fake PR site goes up when DA is low the opposite is not true. Just because you ahve a DA 30+ does not mean the domain is strong. The reason that is so is that the DA is strongly affected by diverse Ips. Meaning a simple scrapebox blast will skyrocket your DA. If I have a PR4 domain that is natural (i.e. earned) it will probably have a low DA. If I then blasted scrapebox spam at it and waited 2-3 weeks I would have a PR4 domain with a sweet DA number but I think we can all agree that the domain itself is now weaker for it.

    yeah..check your backlink profile using seo spyglass. You can check if the backlinks still exist or not.

    Is there a private network blueprint that one can refer to when setting it up?
    I'm interested in setting one up but I'm still a little confused with regards how I can use a blog for different niche without it looking weird.
