Yes just like many software providers offer free service and then you get billed if you want to go on. I have a four month trial I was offered through namecheap (You have to have a few hundred domains with them) and have paid nothing the last two months. Seomoz tools are well worth checking out.

Moz is banking on the fact that most people that submit a credit card number for the so called free trial will forget to cancel before day 91. On day 91 your automatically getting billed.

Straight out of sales schemes 101.

Moz also instantly bills your credit card $1, to test & see If your card is legit, otherwise your not useful on day 91 when you forget to cancel the so called free trial.

Your PRO membership will start once you click "Submit My Order" below. We perform a $1 authorization to ensure your credit card is valid.
If the trial was actually free they wouldn't need your credit card number until day 91.

Its a free trial for those who actually have a legit card. Nothing wrong with that. Its a free trial not a free offer or charity. You are confusing the two. If somebody does not have the means to buy (a legit card) then they are not trying the software at all because they can't buy it (they are only using it).

Straight out good business to give trials to only those who can buy.

Plus what destroys your theory that they are banking on you forgetting is that they email you before the subscription expires to let you know it is about to. If you can't take the responsibility to then cancel (which is easy to do with a few clicks) then its all on you.

Meanwhile its as free as free can be. the one dollar charge drops off your card as I recall and you pay zero dollars.

You must live in your own little world If you think it's a free trial. Let us know when you plan on returning to Earth.

It doesn't advertise free trial for credit card holders, it advertises free trial, then slaps the credit card info. box on the 2nd page.

Just another Moz fanboy. Rand would be proud your standing up to promote his sales pitch site.

I hope you didn't fall for the Snuggie Free trial.

Yo Yuke. You can go to Walmart and get a debit card man. NO need to be so angry.... LOL.

And yes you completely missed it. Its a free TRIAL which means you are trying with the eye to buying. If you don't have a valid credit card then you cannot be trying it because they don't take cash only credit cards so you cannot buy it. Is not free usage its a free trial.. Grasp the concept.

and you are being even more silly with the Moz fanboy stuff. There are countless companies that offer trials to people with credit/debit cards. The world is full of such offers by large established respectable companies. Has nothing to do with Moz.

and um yeah paying zero dollars for something to any sane person is free. If you refuse to cancel after they remind you then thats on you bro.

          Do the maths

          $0 = free

You'll never convince me that Moz isn't banking on the fact that most people will forget about submitting their credit card # for the so called free trial, regardless If they like the service or not. That pretty much guarantees the majority of those credit cards submitted will be billed for at least 1 month.

I doubt most people remember what they ate for lunch last. Tues., how the heck would they remember to cancel the so called free trial (cough), unless they cancel the same day they submitted the credit card #.

Now you know why the free trial (cough) is such a long time span (90 days, lol).

Good grief man, this is IM, you should expect the sales tactics. You might think Moz is the holy grail of SEO, but their nothing more than one sales pitch away from a Sham Wow award. If anything admire them for their clever sales tactics. They defiantly know how to work a crowd ($$), that's been proven.

LOL who gives a fig's leaf about convincing you? I post for other's reading

THEY SEND A REMINDER TO YOU BEFORE THEY BILL YOU.

I used a one month TRIAL once and then another time I got 120 DAYS from namecheap

              BOTH TIMES I PAID ZERO

Like I said in the other thread. the fact that they send a reminder makes your point DOA.

Now if you are silly and don't cancel after being reminded then that on you not them. Besides good night man. this aint the 80s. They have this thing they call the internets and online calendars. Click a few buttons, type a few sentences and reminders are sent. EZ peazy

sorry mate - you have no point.

There is another trial it's for 75 days : Special Offer To WPMU From SEOmoz | SEOmoz

Mike & yukon, what's wrong with you guys? You are always arguing with each other on seomoz threads.

If someone enters their credit card for a free trial and is stupid enough to forget about it, he deserves to be charged imo.

So what is it, volkansen, Seomoz cashing in on human stupidity? Actually, I had forgotten to cancel a subsciption a few times, and I don't consider myself stupid.

If you give me just one good reason why they would want my credit card while they are the ones who are offering me a free trial, I'll take back my words.

In fact with this business model Seomoz may start losing customers soon. Did you hear about the Fitch vs. Dove scandal? what was a good practice a few years ago, may be totally unacceptable today.

There are way better tools in the market than seomoz, like webmeup for example. By the way, they don't ask for a credit card when you sign up for a free trial.
