How to Get "Quality" One Way Links

From what I understand, quality of one way links is now better than quantity. Correct me if I'm wrong.

For example, if you want to rank for the keyword "trout fishing" it would be beneficial to have a contextual link on another site with the page title "trout fishing in minnesota." Having a few quality links like this from websites with some page rank would be better than having hundreds or thousands of links from directories with multiple outgoing links on each page.

It completely makes sense to me why quality would be better in the eyes of the SERPs than quantity.

Now the question I want to discuss.......

How do you get these quality one way links?

Some ideas:
pay for them
have a blogger review your site (usually paid)
submit article to an authority site in your niche

I'd appreciate some more thoughts on this.

Thanks
Wes

All method mentioned are useful. Yes, it is true that quality is more effective than quantity but still quantity is more important and has an edge...

Submit today your site to pages that have no PR and when these pages updated with PR, still useful to you.

It is hard to get quality backlink from directories so I suggest blog commenting to popular posts is a good choice.

You can also post comments on do follow blogs and forums, but ensure that these are not spam comments for the sake of it. Personally I find posting on do follow blogs in a similar niche to my own site very effective.

I totally agree... though my PR is still low due to penalty after posting my partner links at homepage, my links are rapidly growing due to posting on dofollow forums and blogs... I never spend any penny on links.

        Hi,

yes if your doing this for free & its workinh then thats good, but its a better way to, because when you pay for them you dont necessarily get PR increased. but promte your page & then you will easily get those one-way links, use social networks etc too.

Most social bookmarks are nofollow. Of course you can pay for links but I think it's better to pay for someone to build links for you.

Write something controversial, amusing, outrageous or offensive about the subject.

Then go to a few famous blogs related to the subject, and be the first to comment on the blog's latest post. I"ll go for blogs with do-follow link or has some sort of link love plugin on their comment section.

I will also pay for reviews & having it bookmarked at social bookmarking sites to get some links to my article (just make sure you go under the radar). Of course, send it to reddit, digg etc.

If your article is outrageous or amusing enough, one way links will come.

I try to create incoming links by forum posts such as this one, leaving comments on blogs and any other ways I can leave a link. When I leave comments on others blogs, I am hoping they will return to my blog and return the favor.

Killer content always gets you great links. Have some quality, targeted content and contact other site owners asking them to link to you, or offer to let them use your content as long as they give you credit and link back.

                          • Keep in mind that hi-PR blogs usually have that high pagerank only on their home (index) page, so when that post or comment rolls off the front page, most of the link value goes with it.

I'm not suggesting blog posting and commenting for links is a bad idea, just be aware that your comment on a high-PR blog will probably not appear on the page with the high page rank, and even if it does, it will likely roll off long before that pagerank funnels to you.

Links from free press release websites are also powerful links. Run a search on Google for "free press release submission" or "submit press release" and look over the websites that come up. There are a lot of free press release distribution websites online. When you write your release include a link back to your website. One that I like is www.pressreleasespider.com.

                                Wboster,

I used to go to digitalpoint (Link Sales Forum) to buy reviews.

Be selective and check those blogs before you buy. I'd rather have 1 or 2 quality links from an established blog than have 100 junk reviews/articles from blogs specifically made by the owners just that he can make money selling reviews.

Another less common way it to offer your article to other bloggers. I have had a few of my articles re-published by other bloggers just because they found it amusing. Just make sure they link back to yours as the original one. If you can get this, your incoming link quality can be very high (you control the keywords etc).

I would agree, posting comments on relevant blogs and forums is great. So are using free press release sites (here is a list of free press release sites for promotion uses). Press releases are good because since you write the release, the page usually has the keywords you are targeting, thus making the links (yours) coming from it even better. There are also some social bookmarking sites that are still do-follow that can help.

Press releases are great because you can include anchor text links within the body of the release. To take this to the next level, start building links to your press release page. This way, Google will start to place more weighting on your press release (and it's links to your site!) You can also do this for articles you submit. Remember that the search engines follow links from more than just 1 level above your site, so build links to you your incoming links pages for extra juice.

I totally agree with you. Though I have limited time doing article promotion, I do not forget submitting my release to the lists at least once per week.

Quality link building has a great impact in SEO. It's way to better having quality links redirecting to your website than having bulky submissions that almost looks suspicious and spammy. Submit articles in web 2.0 websites and build a pyramid. Bookmark them in high PR social bookmarking website and you can have quality backlinks to your website. You don't have to pay penny for this.

      Absolutely.

Guest blogging is a SOLID strategy.

Go to Google and type in

      <keyword> "write for us"
      <keyword> "guest blog"

      ..etc etc

Dont be afraid to advertise yourself on your own site (as a guest writer).
