Stuck on the top of page 2 of google.

Be patient and just turn up what you're already doing.
I was stuck on the top position of page 2 for a good month.

I slightly kicked up what I was doing, and just waited.
I also did a few small other things too though.

I made the speed of my website quicker, improved my onpage SEO a little bit,
and added more content to my site.

Just keep going at it, be patient, and you'll move up soon enough.
If you don't see an improvement in a few weeks, chances are your competitors are just doing more and better SEO. Thats why they're call "competitors" after all. So just step up things a bit. It worked for me at least.

Build high quality backlinks to your website. How can this tool help you? Use your imagination. If you see that the site that your competitor's backlink is placed on allows dofollow comments (the tool shows this), go make a comment on that same site using your keyword as the anchor text.


Also, optimize your website. Here are some important on page optimization factors:
Home Title Tag: your main keyword should show up twice here, with a variation of that keyword (eg: lose weight and weight loss).
H1, H2, & H3 Tags: these tags are very important(especially <H1>), and should always contain your keyword.
Keyword Location Within Text: try to place each your keyword near the beginning of the first sentence of each paragraph (maintaining at least 100 words between paragraphs).
Keyword Density: you should aim for a density of 3% for each keyword that you're targeting.
Use Your Keywords as Anchor Text on your page: link to an internal page on your site, and then link to an authority site (eg: wikipedia) that is related to your keyword. Always remember to use the "No Follow" tag (rel="nofollow") when linking to an external site.
Images: use the "alt tag" and rename your images to your chosen keywords.
Decorate Your Keywords: bold, italicise, or underline your keyword at least one time.
Google Loves Unique Content: your post should be between 850-1000 words and be well structured around your main keywords.

DO some social sharing of your site, if you haven't on sites like Twitter, G+, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg, etc. Also try to publish some Guest Post on your niche relevant sites. Guest Posts are a great way of earning a link back to your site as well as some targeted traffic.

Assess what link building you are doing - and how active you are against your competitors in the link building you are doing.

Also, see if there are ways you can add some variety to the kinds of sources from which you are building links back to your website.

What s your current link building strategy ? If you don't have enough high PR links , try to get few.

Also try some blog commenting with just urls and not anchor text, it might also help. Be patient and be consistent in link building.

Carry on the work you are doing and ensure ALL of the onsite has been built correctly to Google's guidelines. Eventually you will get there.
