I basically have a list of 100s of long tail keywords with very little competition.

I am going to be posting articles on my site with the usual on page SEO for this kw - Title, H1 tags, ALT IMAGE text, kw in the content occasionally and so on...

But what can I do to get it ranking?

This is one a NEW site.

Optimizing the on-page factors itself is a very important thing. I have a website which basically has about 10 pages, each of which targets a long-tail keyword. I haven't been working on my website for about a few months, and without any backlinks at all, one of my pages just ranked about 100th or something like that. I know that's not a good result, but for a website which averages 0.3 visitors per day... So the older the pages get, the easier it will be.

Of course, I didn't tell you this because I want you just to write articles containing those long-tail keywords. Some good ways to rank for those keywords and get traffic on those pages is to:

-- Use twitter. Write a small interesting tweet that will engage the reader. Then, at the end, add your link. Here the most important part is the tweet. If it's something ordinary and uninteresting, it won't get you any traffic.

-- Post on Forums. I began my website because I wanted to complete Ed Dale's Challenge. I left it behind for a while, but I'm getting back. What he taught me is that if you want to begin making money from your website, you need to become an authority in your niche. Of course, you could build a website, rank it good and people will be naturally coming in. But, think of becoming an authority this way: when people see your name, they will prefer your information to other sources. If somebody interested in what you are offering sees your name in a forum post, he will become interested and eventually look you up. Becoming a market leader takes up a lot of time and work. You will need to be a member of many forums, answer thousands of questions and wait for a few weeks before adding a link to your site. Don't push it

-- Post comments on competitor sites. Not the usual "great post, visit my website:". Give the people some food for thought. Note something that the article lacks and write it in your comment. This increases your chances of your comment getting posted.

--Run a PPC campaign. Are your articles all very high quality? Will they be able to engage the reader so much and keep him on your website. You could easily target the cheapest keywords and buy traffic towards them. Then the readers will hop on to other pages and eventually earn you more money. Just showing the people your website might be a really nice investment in the future.

-- Squidoo, Wordpress, Blogger... You know all of this. Create high quality articles, SEO optimized, backlink, oldest possible method.

I'm sure that you know all of this, but this really is the way of doing it. I know that it sounds too simple to be true but you shouldn't think of this information as wrong, just try and find better ways of doing it.

The easiest way is to break the list down into small groups of relevant keywords/pages, build external links to a main keyword/page (per group of keywords/pages), then branch off the main keyword with internal links to rank all the similar long tail keywords.

Whatever you do, you'll still have to get some quality external links pointing at a few pages (new site).

Go for the most combination of long tail keywords.

For example: if you have a keyword that is 5 words long and has 5 different combinations of keywords that you want to rank for-choose that over a keyword thats 5 words long but has 2 keywords you want to rank for.

      Hope that makes sense.

      So I would have:

External Link --> Main KW Page on Money Site --> A Few Links to Long Tail KW Pages
