Will my Google position drop after a few weeks of my site being down?

If I set up "Under Maintenance" message on my site, will that drop my SERP? I want to turn off my site for a few weeks by either removing name servers at my domain registrar's account or setting up "Under maintenance" message. How will that affect my SERP? If it's going to tank SERP, will it get back to where it was once I turn the site back on?
Also I'm thinking about removing the site from search results using Webmaster Tools just so organic traffic wouldn't run into 404 error, which might tank my serp? I was wondering if I remove content and then remove the site from search results, will that work sort of like a temporary site freeze that I would be able to restore to the original state any time?
So will my SERP suffer from all this? And are there maybe other ways to temporary disable a site without losing SERP?
