Internal linking strategy for old blog posts?

When writing new blog posts we usually refer to old blog posts using anchor tags. But is there a way by which we can get automatic notification about the older blog posts which can be updated with links to new posts.

I have seen plugins "Smarter SEO Links" for wordpress but doesn't appeal as we need to set the keyword and URL our self and as a blogger we can not pre-determine the keywords to be used in future blog posts. These plugins are more suited for websites targeted to a product and which are not updated that frequently.

What I am looking for is something which scans all wordpress/blogger posts. If it finds a word from one blog post being mentioned in any other blog posts then it informs us about the same. That is the basic functionality but of course something more smarter is welcome.

Any ideas on this!!

Hi @ExtremeJava. I work for a company called LinkSmart and we are a platform that analyzes, creates, and manages the in-text links on your site. We recently launched a free Wordpress plugin (though you don't have to be a WP site) that I think might work well for exactly what you are looking for. We allow you to dynamically add new links into your content or change the destination URL of an existing link. We also provide pretty unique insights and analytics about how your readers are engaging with your content through in-text links that you really can't find anywhere else.

We are a small piece of JS that loads asynchronously and takes minutes to setup. To learn more, I encourage you to check out our site at LinkSmart or I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.

    Best,
    Adam

Don't fall for the plugin crap.

On-page SEO isn't just about adding links, it's also about removing useless clutter & positioning links/text. With a plugin all your going to get is a bunch of links piled on top of clutter.
