A lot of what will determine your success with YouTube is keyword research. There are three ways to go about it:

1. Find SERPs that already have YouTube videos ranking that you know you can beat because they are poorly optimized and/or poorly rated,
2. Find SERPs that you are very positive SHOULD have videos ranking that don't; then you can fill the gap.
3. Find product keywords that do NOT have YouTube videos, and publish your own review video. It doesn't even have to be a good video if your competition is weak. (Similar to both previous points, but want to point out that product keywords can be a gold mine)

In the end it's just smart SEO... Find low competition, high traffic phrases you think you can rank for, and then rank for them. You may have to get creative in tying your video to the product, and many times and may be smarter to send traffic to your own website first, instead of directly linking an affiliate product.

There are a variety of ways for ranking youtube on Google. One of the easiest is to ensure that you rename the video file by using your keyword before you submit your video to Youtube. You should choose keywords with traffic that is minial competition on youtube. Besides, with title, description, tags and even annotations should be exploited o their maximun potential.

Make sure to put your keywords that you’re trying to rank in the title of your video. Build links from domains with high authority - create contextual links to web 2.0 properties, article directory and wiki sites, social bookmarking and document sharing sites, homepage backlink, creating blog posts, press release, etc.

First of all, your video should contains the targeted keywords.. then do link building and sharing regularly, don't discontinue the work, I would say, it would help..

Optimize the hell out of the video. Keyword stuff.

Order a drip feed retention view/like gig.

The entire time the video is accumulating views, slowly blast it to hell and back with backlinks.

Be sure to keep drip feeding links untill the video shows on page 1.

Thats all.

Now if you want to raise the heat, and spill hot oil on your competitors, rank comments from a different youtube account on their videos just to kill their conversions. Something like "This video sucks... didn't work for me". Don't spam a link to your video. You don't want them to track you back. If they delete the comment, keep rereranking untill they give up lol.

FTR I have never done that before. And I don't recommend it. I just wanted to sound like a badass for a few seconds.

Yeah, I've found that YT videos tend to do really well with big link blasts. (For whatever reason.) Doing the same on your own site is usually a recipe for disaster. But it seems to be the total opposite with videos.

Work just as it is a normal website. Find related websites and try to get a backlink to the video with your KEYWORD as an anchor text (just don't overdo it -> have 5 quality backlinks is a lot much better than having 1000 low quality backlinks!)

Just go and get all sort of backlinks to your YT videos once you have added your keyword in title and description, after all you don't need to worry about deindexing your domain in the case of YT videos .. Its so easy to rank YT videos with all sort of crappy backlinks too.

Here are the factors to rank a video:

Use Captions/Subtitles
Video Resolution
Include keywords in your video name, titles & description.
Build a video library to make your channel more relevant
Activate comments, rates, favorites through your channel
Add a link to your website within the description

The ranking also depends on the following things:

The number of times that has been voted your video
The number of times that your video has been viewed
The number of times that your videos have been bookmarked
