If there are users here i would like to know the following .

I started a new website . Building some links slowly on a low competitive keyword .
The SEOT on the keyword is 50 so 50 visitors if on page 1 .
So i was wondering what the max of competion you guys will face for a keyword .
A keyword with 100.000 visitors is a big nono but how far do you go ?

High traffic does not necessary mean high competition.

Very strong competition indicator are Google's omitted search results.

    1. Type your keyword into Google with quotes " " (and hit search duh!)
    2. move to the last results page (SERP)
    3. notice the number of omitted results

    Something like this:
Google omitted the results to the [NUMBER] of most relevant ....

That is your true competition. Now, I found through testing that most of the time keywords below with competition below 450 are doable. You can rank within a few weeks (maybe only some days in some cases)

Of course keyword research is a much more complex problematic but this will give some idea.

To expand in Tiib, also manually go through the top 3 sites and look out for other NEW niche sites that are targeting the same keywords. Don't go chasing after rankings where people have a large PBN or extremely strong authority.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

thank you for clearing this out !

EDIT: btw when i search with "keyword" i see my website on the first page and also some of my backlinks .
and on a normal search i see my website on page 6 .

      What does that mean ?

      And

Google omitted the results to the [NUMBER] of most relevant . What number should i be looking for and perhaps avoid .

Quote search and normal search are two totally different searches. Normal search is the one used the most and therefore the one bringing the traffic.

"keyword" is exact match search. Returned results contain the keyword AS IS in the title, body or url. This will show you sites that are better optimized for that particular keyword.

Now you need to move to the last results page (using the Gooooooooogle navigation at the bottom) and search for this text:

In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 746 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.

If there is no such text (probably your case) that means that you are targeting a longer keyword phrase and you have only one page of results. In this case, look at the top of the search result page for the number of pages found. That is your true competition. (should be under 10)

If you see only your website and pages where you created backlinks show up, that means that you are targeting a keyword none (or very few) others are.
