My wife has a food blog as a hobby for the past few years which now is a PR4. We are looking for ways to monetize the blog and have received inquiries to place links on the homepage. There is very low OBL on the homepage and all backlinks were gained naturally over the years. The blog has 100s of pages of content. How much could we charge for a permanent backlink on the homepage?
#backlink #pr4 #worth

text-link-ads I'd presume about $20/month per link. Blog posts around $15 each. These are just indicators, and I wouldn't know without knowing your exact URL. Sign up to text-link-ads and see what they value it at.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

How much is the buyer willing to spend (that's your answer)? All anyone here can do is guess considering where not the one buying your links.

Word of advice, start the price higher than what you think you'll get (be realistic), I've found some people don't haggle on price & simply agree with what you ask for.

But he is talking about his PR4 blog. The question is fair as he doesn't have any idea, how much he should tell... OP, tell the buyers a sum after calculating the average of "GUESSES". You can tell them a little more also.. But one thing more, never place a permanent link for one-time charge, if your blog gets PR9 in future , then you will be in loss... So make short-term agreements

If it's money that you after, offer a monthly blog posting service that includes a Blogroll category link. So for lets say $30 per month, review the client's product/service and have a category link in the Blogroll for that client.

The best secret in this game is recurring revenue. Come up with a way that the clients give you cash each and every month.

  • it is very difficult to specify amount without seeing the blog..
it mostly depends on the number of the visitors and audience..

It is a difficult to tell you exactly how much your blog worth for a permanent link. It will depend on how much space you will provide or which type of linking it will. But I think for simple link it may be $60/ month...

If your Wife's site is a quality pr4 with low OBL, she could charge as much as the other site owner is willing to pay. It is not easy finding quality sites with pr these days.
If the other party views your wife's site as a quality Must-have backlink' they'll pay pretty much anything for it.

On SEO forums if the site gets no additional traffic and the OBL is around 15 then you could charge like $8/month. If the OBL is 5 then make it like $25/month.

Now if the site does get traffic, like in your wife's case, then you can consider a banner and charge for impressions and thus the PR gets irrelevant and charge depending on how relevant the client site is to yours. Impressions go for around $1-$5/1000 views I think so if you get 100.000 pageviews a month you could make between $100-500/month from the banner and rent out some blogroll / blog post links on the side so yeah you should be able to make a minimum of $100/month.

For a permanent link on the homepage I would in your case charge something between $250 and $500 but you're better of with the monthly approach instead of one time fee.

To justify a high price, you need to back this up with a few bits of data to the enquirer.

E.g your site has x amount of referring domains and citation/trust flow of xyz.
Use majestic seo / OSE to get this data.

It would cost around $20 to $40.

And you can easily find it on Digital Point forum in link sales section.

That's fairly cheap. If that's the case, I should be ranking number 1 on some competitive niches such as "how to get girls" .

    Depends... it's all relative

    True story:

Guy contacts me telling me he'd like to purchase links on my PR4 site. Says he's willing to pay $15 bucks per link for a few months. I say go higher. Guy gets ticked off at me and goes on a spiel of how $15 bucks per link is more than enough for my site and the traffic it gets, blah, blah. I say, "Have a nice day".

Another guy contacts me; say's he'd like to buy *ONE* link on same site. Asks how much it's going to cost. I say, "hmmm... $1,500". Guy says, his budget is $600. I say, "hmmm... $600 it is!"

It's all relative... or as Yukon says, "How much is the buyer willing to spend (that's your answer)".
