Backlinks from irrelevant forums?

Dear Friends,

Will back-links from irrelevant niche forums will hurt our website rankings? Some webmaster's suggested me to do not get backlink from irrelevant niche forum. So, i am little nervous regarding this.. Shall anyone please verify my doubt???

I doubt the forum links are going to do much at all so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

But if you want some links that will actually HELP I doubt forum links are going to get the job done

If you do irrelevant posting in other website surely your ranking will decrease.

Somehow irrelevant backlinks can give you a little effect as to compared to those backlinks coming from relevant niches.
