Is it common for a site to disappear and reappear in a Google search for a specific keyword?

If a site ranking well on a specific keyword to disappear from those results (not just becomes lower ranking, but actually stops appearing), is it likely to be gone from that keyword forever?

Or do sites leave and come back from Google's rankings?

    Well, what you are experiencing right now is called Google dance. This situatio happens to sites that are less than one year old as far as I know. It is important to take a lot at your ranking frequently to check whether you have some ranking for this particular keyword or not.

    If I were your, the next time I had to buy a site I would buy an expired domain with age, I mean at least one year old.
