Ranking for a local company - is this the right way?

Recently I posted asking about ranking for a local company. It was about 3am and I wasn't thinking all that right

Hopefully this post will be a little more coherent.

I have a hypnotherapy practice here on the Island of Kauai and my website is Kauai Hypnosis

As of now I'm thinking about only targeting 3 niches (smoking, weight loss, and stress relief).

I'm pretty bad when it comes to doing keyword research so I bought Market Samurai a few months back.

What would be a good keyword phrase for lets say stop smoking in Kauai? Would Kauai Stop Smoking be reasonable?

Also, should I send backlinks with the anchor text of Kauai Stop Smoking to .com/kauai-stop-smoking ?

Antonio

P.S. Does anyone have a really good guide for using Market Samurai?

What you are doing is pretty gine but my suggestion is that you need to use top tools such as SENuke, UAw and AMR to get faster results.

TextlinkaAds and ReviewMe will help you a lot as welll. If your on a tight budget Fiverr is the way to go.

      SENuke, Fiverr??

You're basically telling him how to destroy his site.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

Sending your keyword to .com/kauai-stop-smoking is preferable. It would look proper and relevant. Also you can try terms like quit smoking, stop smoking hypnosis, etc. But do some keyword research before using the keywords.

As far as AMR, UAW is concerned, it is not at all advisable to use them with Penguin around. It can cause great harm to your website.

I'm a little bit confused. If I have a good local rating (listed on Google places, etc..etc.., can I just use something such as "stop smoking hypnosis" or should I try something that is localized, such as "stop smoking kauai".

        Thanks

Most definitely do not use Fiverr. You have no clue what you're going to get there and the risk is way too much.

In fact, you really don't even need Market Samurai. All of the information you need can be found right at Google.

Start with Google AdWords keyword tool. You don't need to use AdWords to have access to the tool.

Search for Exact matches - so change from the default broad.

Put in a keyword (or several keywords) to start off your research. What should you put in? Well, what would you search for if you were trying to solve this problem? I don't think it's Kauai Stop Smoking. But you'll have to play around and try to come up with something.

Review the results and you'll find a lot of possible keywords. Try to find ones with decent results (like at least 500 a month) and not a lot of competition.

Google actually makes it pretty easy to rank for local results. Make sure your site is truly localized. Address, phone number, Yelp, Google Places, Better Business Bureau, etc. These things will help you rank locally.

    Good luck.

For local you need to do local Strings everything above would be for Stop Smoking in general terms.
If your wanting Stop SMoking in a city use local terms ex Stop Smoking Atlanta,
How do you Give up Smoking Atlanta and so on.
Far as backlinks it depends on Competition and your website.
and You can use tools as long as you dont go over board and keep it normally

Dont do 1000 links today and nothing for a month
And what the poster above me means is for Local you need Citations
All pointing to the LOCAL place your promoting

Here in Kauai the population is pretty small. Only about 60k. I honestly doubt people would search for something such as "quit smoking lihue" or "quit smoking poipu". Its a different mentality here.

Can you give me an example of this? Does this basically consist of setting up accounts on yelp, merchantcircle, etc. and having a link back to my site?

Chances are you can probably target all of the phrases that are relevant, and rank alright with minimal backlinking because they're not sought after search terms. Use the keywords you're targeting as the anchor text and pointing to the relevant page. If you did want to see which keywords to focus on, just put the keywords into google keyword tool, change the match type to exact and see which ones have the most traffic.

If you are in search of Local |SEO is than you need some extra stuff than organic SEO.
    Citations (as much as possible)
Reviews (as much but random and use white hat)
    Pinging them
you can add other stuff of SEO with it like manual
    directory submission
    social bookmarking
    onpage optimization.
    Youtube Channel optmization
    etc
use keywords carefully with adword and try exact value not broad. Its the factor you will do your future hardworking.
