New Adsense account CPC,CTR drop like a stone

Hi guys

I added Adsesne to our site a few days ago and it kicked off fine. But after 2 days the CTR began dropping. You can see from the attachment that it was initially 4% but just 6 days later it's now 0.3%. Not only that, but the CPC has fallen from 50 cents to 5 cents.

Is this normal when setting up a new adwords account? I am thinking maybe the CPC dropped because advertisers don't like the traffic I am sending them but it's only been 5 days...

Regarding the CTR, this is super wierd. We made a few tweaks to the add to make it better but we didn't change much. Could Google really be sending me less relevant ads only 2 days ofter launch that cause such a massive decline in CTR?

I am flummoxed. There will be a financial reward for anyone who can help me get back to where I was on day 1.

You don't know what ads people are getting. Google is sending
      more personal ads.

CPC fluctuates wildly, depending on the position of the ad,
time of day, and if people are bidding on your site.

You need to work on getting tons of targeted traffic.

Google tells you to expect wild fluctuations at times.

But with such a new account, why are you in panic mode?

Panic mode sends people to do bad things.

The vast majority of people make pennies a day on adsense.

It's not a get rich quick scheme, but people think google should
just be tossing cash at them. Doesn't happen that way.

If you keep your current mindset up, you will tweak yourself
into a TOS violation because you have no patience.

It can take up to 2 weeks for google to start displaying
      "proper" ads.

Google makes all this readily available, and I keep telling people
to read google before coming here.

There is no expected or normal CPC, nor CTR.

After a year, you may be able to get a general level.

Thanks for the feedback Paul. I am not panicking. After all only the first 2 days produced decent money, and this is my first monetization of this site.

I would expect Google to give me less relevant traffic at the beginning. Why do you think I could have a very good CTR at first?

I know most of the traffic comes from just 2 pages which produce 90% of all the traffic on the site because they rank in google for a busy term. That traffic has been completely stable throughout.

12 hours into today - earnings 30 cents. Can it really be right when the site earned 100 euro a day only last week?

Maybe is a problem if your visitors are returning. They develop so called "ad blindness" after some time. Try to rotate ad places and see if there is any improvement.

Why is he the master? There wasn't anything in that reply that will help me solve the problem, nor an explanation for why CTR could drop so precipitously.

The best advice I have got so far I found on another thread which was to disable irrelevant ads which google shows as backfill in between more valuable ads which are limited in supply because of budget limits on those accounts.

Paul did offer you a solution - do nothing. Google is not a get quick rich scheme, simply give it time in order to calculate averages and your profitability. I think 2 weeks is fairly optimistic, I'd say it takes an average of 3 weeks for the volatility to minimize. If I were you, I would wait, calculate the profitability of using AdSense as a source of revenue and then do the necessary adjustments. There are a lot of ways of earning revenue without using Ads

I blocked a few ads and changed the container size for the adsense block and CTR went back to 4% and average CPC is 60 cents again. Back to 80 euro a day.

      Cheers guys.
