What are your thoughts on my latest case study.

Some basic insights, but then I moved into my more intensive techniques.

Thanks for any input.

    Hi Mogly,
I'm impressed with your ascent in the rankings.
To be honest, a bit skeptical if you will be able to sustain it with the automated linkbuilding.
Care to explain how you're making that look natural? I'd love to know more.
Also, I'm very much an SEO tool hound, so love to know a little more about the 3 tools you mentioned in your post.

    Thanks,
    Carlton

I'll be posting in-depth reviews and explanations along with screenshots etc. in the future of all the SEO tools I use.

(I'm a huge SEO tool hound as well)

I make sure to throw in as many whitehat links as possible while typically doing multiple tiers of linkbuilding.

For example, if google finds 1000 profile backlinks to your site it looks really bad.

But if each of those profile links has credible links, like other blog comments/web 2.0's/tweets etc, linking to them, it seems realistic.

Just make sure that your tier 1 links are mainly web 2.0's, original content guest blog posts, maybe blog networks if you are risky, any thing like blog comments, and lots of social.

The more of a whitehat 'buffer' you have on your site, along with domain age/your current authority, the more you can use spammy blackhat links to boost your individual posts.

Please do post the Magic Submitter article.
When you say 'boost your individual posts,' you are referring to linking to the web 2.0's, guest blog posts, etc., correct?

Totally safe strategy, because its whitehat, its content creation (youtube videos). You will never get penalized for creating videos on youtube and posting links to your pages... unless you really over do it and try to automate 10,000 terrible videos with no change in tags/description/etc. and even that's a stretch.

        Yes and no.

In an ideal world, you would have time to make web 2.0's/guest blog posts/etc. and link those all to your individual posts.

But typically I don't have time for that, and what I meant, is that if your domain is safe/strong. 1 year old or more, with solid SERP history and a mix of grayhat or preferably whitehat work, then you can send more blackhat links to your posts.

From my experience, even new posts take on some of the characteristics of your domain. (That's why wikipedia articles rank so well without a single organic backlink)

Thanks for this idea - I really need to delve into Youtube marketing a lot more... and you gave me some serious tips.

      Sure!

Since you asked for it, take a look at what happened just ~5 days after that huge drop.

(The drop that was caused by a change in my header tags)

The weird part.. is that I haven't changed the header tag back to the same keyword.

So for some reason my rank is increasing.. but without the tag. I guess this means google just wanted to take a second look once i changed the tag up, but didn't really care about it. hmm...

You case study was really good. I guess, I have read an interesting article after a long time. Also the graph you have shown above is really cool. The ranking has dropped massively, which is a bit sad, but I suggest you keep a close watch on the Serps.

Main thing I am seeing is you had a sitewide from talksportsphilly.com but as I look over the links there really are not any authority sites linking to this page, so I don't believe you will see your results increase. I'll tell you what... I will make a page about this myself, and probably be back tomorrow to tell you about the results.
