Is it worth buying directory listing in 600 directories? Will this help my seo or this is just old school and it does not work anymore.

Quality links from directories ? or just rubbish?

    Do you know the name of the 600 directories from where you are getting your site listed, if no then it won't be a good deal, since you might end up with some junk links.

    But if you know the URL, where your site is going to be listed then you can check out them manually about their page rank, site authority, and how often the internal pages are getting cached etc. to make sure if it is a worth deal!

    Do it yourself over time, do 5 a week for example and only choose reputable ones or even ones which cost.

    I don't have a list but I like to do a bit of research on each directory before I submit a site.

    Don't buy it! Unless you want to get flagged for spamming by Google.

    Just submit to around 20 directories, and you're pretty much done for directories. Even if you really want to buy more, you should buy at maximum 100+. 600 is out of the question.

    Yes, directory links are helpful, but it should not be your only type of backlinks.
