Different Google search results

We have the keyword tool that tells us how many searches a month are carried out, the rough CPC, competition etc.
Where can I find a similar thing that shows how many different site pages there are that attempt to rank for a given phrase ie a more defined rating of competition if you like .
ie you know when you enter a search phrase into Google it says there's about 18,987,456 results its found , though when you scroll to the end of those results it tells you a truer number. Is there anywhere/ way (like with the keyword tool) I can search for this number without having to enter the phrases into google search each time ,to see the true(r) amount of competition pages for various phrases.
eg then can say to prospects/clients, this phrase has XXX people searching for it, and only XXX competitive pages to outrank....lets go
