SEO: What am I doing wrong?

My site is almost a month and a half old and I've been adding unique content and building (white hat) backlinks with around 100 now, from social media sites, guest author posts and even one from wikipedia.

All my articles are optimized for low competition key phrases, yet my site is nowhere to be seen in google for them. Could someone please take a look at my website to see if there is anything going wrong, or whether I am just being penalized for being a new site? I use a wordpress site theme for my site. The site is WorldsFittest DOT net

Thanks for all your help in advance

Pretty broad question. I don't think the site is being penalized. But you can create an account at Google Webmaster Tools and Google will let you know if it is.

Your home page has a PR of 0 - so quite low and probably wouldn't be able to rank for anything other than super easy keywords. And since to get to any of your actual keyword pages takes 2 clicks (build muscle to secrets-for-how-to-get-big-arms) at that point you have a PR of N/A (so no PR at all). So your keyword pages have very little SEO value.

Checking the site in Majestic SEO, only 2 backlinks are showing up - both from the same article directory. So while you've been building good content fine, your backlinks are virtually non-existent. You probably have more than just those 2 since Majestic (or any other backlink took) won't actually catch all of the links. But regardless, that's your key issue in my opinion. You need more backlinks - more good backlinks.

    Your site isn't penalized.

While you might have been building a lot of backlinks, it can take sometime (if at all) for those backlinks to be recognised.

Looking at your site with Majestic SEO and ahrefs, they are only picking up 2 backlinks, so you'll need a bit of patience and building more backlinks.

Now, you say you are targeting low competition phrases, but I looked at a few of your post titles (assuming they are the keywords you are targeting) and

    bmi calculator
    back exercises

    are both extremely competitive keywords.

The easiest one I saw on your home page was

    best toning exercises

although that gets very few monthly searches.

Thank you for the replies. I agree that I think google hasn't given me credit for my backlinks yet. UMS - on the google keyword tool it says back exercises and BMI calculator are low competition keyphrases. How do you determine competition?

In my view your website needs more optimized data with in site.... use your targeted keywords in blogs title, use deep linking Deep linking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia build your links on do follow high authority pages you can measure page authority from here http://moonsy.com/page_authorityback-links will work when you have good text in your site and quality of back-links will be high also you need to grow your social media with relevant peoples or who are interested in your content

I've also found that lately, Google are also taking much longer to recognize links than they used too. Sounds like you are on the right track, but trying to acquire some high pr links relevant to your nich wouldn't hurt.

If the back-link posted on high authority pages Google recognize links quickly

Age of site and size of site are big factors. Keep adding useful content to your site, and compare your site with the competitors who are already at the top of Google to get an idea of what Google are looking for.

Your site is good and let me congratulate you for the posts that you can add daily. Just continue doing this. SEO is a SLOW process. Also, do not forget to use article marketing and also build a linkwheel or link pyramid using top web2.0 websites!

SEO is not a quick method. Also, a lot of your backlinks may never be seen or recognized by G, unless they are from high traffic and/or PR sites. That's just one of the things you have to accept. Some links also may disappear. You just need to keep building and building.

One of the things you could try is to build a blog network. Forget about public networks unless you want G to slap you. If you build your own then it could cost $1000s. Instead, try using Web 2.0 properties such as reddit, squidoo, etc. (Maybe you're already doing that?)

Since you mentioned, that your website is new, it will take sometime to rank your keywords. You will have to be patient and keep building quality links.

Your problem is you're in the ultra-competitive fitness niche.

Your site is wayyyyyy too new. That's about all it comes down to. Once the site is several months old you can start serious link-building but even then it will probably take several months to reach page 1 on competitive phrases.

Another tip, whatever comes out of Matt Cutts mouth, just do the opposite and you'll shoot up in rank.
