Deleting Pages and post

This is my first website. When I post all my content on my site (5 post). Within a week I ranked on Google's first page (10th). I had my "latest post" as my home page with all content showing as a preview. However, I wanted to try my main article as a static home page. So when I started to delete pages and post to repost and rearrange them, I BOMBED in ranking. I had to do this over a 2 day period because I work overtime. I think google indexed my site while I was arranging things and possible indexed an incomplete site with broken internal links
Do you think this "rearranging " had anything to do with my drop in ranking.
Should I go back to my "latest post" as my home page or use the static page? Plus because all the content of my article is showing on the preview of the lasting post, visitors really would not need to even click on the article to read it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
