A question on guest blogging

I am trying to get into this and have had a post accepted to a well known blog in my niche. My question is a simple one. Should I also publish the blog post on my own site as well as the guest blog?

I made lots of guest posts, but didnt posted on my blog. Don't know if its recommended to post on your blog the same content.

The standard rule for guest blogging is that your article should only ever be published on the site you have written it for.

In some cases it might be acceptable to re-publish it, with permission from the guest blog, provided that you add a rel canonical meta tag pointed at the 'original' version on the guest site.

It may be tempting to re-use the content or the idea, but don't do it. I perma-ban any guest author who does that to me, and I know a few other publishers who do the same thing - we expect only original material from guest authors.

      Guest blogging is complete nonsense.

If I can't think of anything to post, I'm in trouble.

If your blog needs a guest post, it aint worth posting on.

This is no referring to namebrand bloggers in rare circumstances.

Joe Blow is not going to get a real guestposting gig, and nobody
is going to want to guest post on Joe Blow's blog in return.

If people are readily accepting guest bloggers, their blog aint
      worth crap.

If you NEED a blog to guest post on, then YOU aint worth crap either.

I don't have time to guest post, nor do I NEED any guest posters.

I can't imagine anyone with a real, good, decent blog, to ever accept
guest posts, nor go around looking for them.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

Paul, you post a lot of good stuff but you are over generalizing here.

Although much of the guest blogging that goes on is crap, there are some reasons that even authority sites like mine accept guest posts.

We have full-time in-house writers and editors, so it's not for lack of content or ideas that we look for guest authors.

        Some of the reasons include:

        1. To get expert commentary or analysis from industry experts - some of them are well known, some of them aren't, but our audiences love the fact that they can get so much expert information on one website.

        2. Some advice simply isn't credible unless it comes from someone legally qualified to give it - the obvious examples here are legal and taxation advice.

        3. To build relationships - we have guest posts from industry body representatives and board members - this helps us to build relationships with those organizations, and it helps those organizations to build relationships with our audience.

I could stretch this list out, but I'm sure you're getting the idea.

Guest blogging can be a very good thing, and can achieve goals that can't easily be done any other way.

PS - Just wanted to add that I've been doing this since before the web, accepting guest articles in print magazines and newsletters, and appearing as a guest on radio and television. One of my websites back in the mid 90s even had a branded guest spot on a major FM radio network.

This is so not correct. Some of the top SEOs are seeing good results from guest posting. Example - The 10 Golden Rules to Attracting Authority Links | SEOmoz

Neil Patel runs some pretty major SEO blogs himself but still posts his stuff on SEO Moz too

Didn't you read the TOS on guest blogging sites? How can you publish a post written for others? You are getting credit for it, so after you publish the post with a guest posting site, you can't republish it on your blog. It is same as copying content from other websites.
