Videos Recieving Pr 4 in 3 months?

All I did was blast them 3 months ago.

None of them have been penalized. All of them have established an impressive pr in a very short amount of time.

But it wasn't just backlinks I did on them, I also saturated them with fake traffic a long time ago.

All of them are highly relevant to my niche. So can I link them or what?
And whats the deal with videos achieving such a high pr in such a short amount of time? Is that normal?

All youtube videos achieve at least PR3 regardless of building links. I have PR6 videos and haven't built a single link.

Also, youtube videos are NoFollow, they serve no purpose whatsoever in terms of ranking your site, so PR is effectively useless. Not to mention, pagerank is a useless stat anyway that far too many people focus on. I seriously wish Google would just remove PR from the toolbar so people stop caring about it.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

I still don't understand the story with page rank. Some people say it doesn't matter, others say that 1 high pr backlink = thousands of low pr backlinks.

For my niche however, I do see more data that seems to support your perspective. Like the fact that my top 2 competitors, all have low quality prna backlinks, and their home pages have low pr too. So maybe you are right.

But one thing you did say not too long ago, was that google only counts 1 link per domain. And my top competitor has hundreds of links coming from the same domain. All I really care about is what I need to do to outrank these guys:

Right now I'm stuck between doing 2 things -

    1) Continue building/backlinking my blogs/web2.0's (blogspot, tumblr, wordpress, live journal, youtube, pinterest etc + commenting daily on high pr relevant blogs)

    2) Or stop all of that, buy 2-3 .coms, and link them exactly like they did. But try to get some high pr links as well, just for added leverage.

A lot of people say that private networks are the way to go, and that seems like the thing my competitors are doing, but I hear too many horror stories about networks getting penalized. My thinking is that at least blogs/web2.0 are free, I can do a lot more of them, so that means less eggs in 1 basket.

What would you do? My site is almost 3 months old already, and still nowhere to be found in google.

(and yes I'll take the link down soon)

It all depends how much profit being #1 can yield for you. If you're going to get $5,000 per month from being #1, then it's fairly obvious, build a network. Likewise, if you want to scale it up (like I have), then a PBN is great too. I started off with one Amazon site, and I now have TONS of them, thanks to my PBN. It's all about investment > long-term profit.

Sure, I lost a bit of $$ in the start, but that's the point. You're building a business, a long-term sustainable income that will yield long-term residual income streams. My already ranking Amazon sites give me a solid income, and I'm building more each and everyday. The day my PBN gets dropped and de-indexed, I'll just build another one.

Excellent point. A #1 ranking to me, just guessing off the top of my head, would have to be a minimum of $50,000 a month. All I know is it would be a lot.

My brother use to work for one of our competitors, who's site is not ranking. But his google places ranks #1 for various areas. He said from the calls they got through google places alone, they would sell around $100,000 worth of work a month. Which realistically is only about 10-15 jobs.

So a #1 ranking organically, would likely be a lot higher than the figure I mentioned.

Just from youtube videos I have ranking, I can make around $4,000 a month.
And those videos don't even rank on the top of page 1, moreso towards the bottom.

The problem is, often they bounce down to page 2, and we lose a lot of calls. Google just doesn't want certain videos high up on page 1.

For the record, money is not the issue here but control. I absolutely must learn the skills to know what is effective and what is not, in order to save both time & money in the future. Thats why I have to figure out something for myself first, before I even think of outsourcing it.

For now, I'm going to have my brother register a domain through his account today, that way IPs are different, and I can start building up at least 1 network. I think what I'll do is continue to focus on all my free blogs/web 2.0, along with 1 private site. We'll see how things go, and if my site starts improving, then I'll definitely register a second domain.

    Thanks for the help!

I must say you are not doing bad with your 1, 2, 3 steps, they all have an important role to play in your ranking.

If you really want to increase your ranking then continue building the back links just ensure you keep your anchor variation in appropriation with the big G.
