For your question about link authority, yes some would pass to the domain being redirected to as long as you use a 301 permanent redirect. Some argue that most link authority passes, some say only about ten percent. In my experience you lose PageRank and some link authority using this tactic.

As for your question about later removing the redirect, the domain that had links to it in the first place would maintain its ranking in SERP’s whereas the domain being redirected to would lose traffic. That being said, the deciding factor on the success of setting things up this way would be where the content resides. If all of your content on is on the leasesouthwest domain, then you might have some issues with duplicate content if you tried to all of a sudden put all that content on the other domain.

i wouldnt be bothered if the website being linked to lost it rankings as i would only stop the redirect if i decided not to be part of the franchise and go alone.

basically im looking at a way i can promote a website that i will only own as long as im the franchisee. so if i stop i can take all my seo efforts with me to the existing domain.

Is they a better way you could suggest for me to do this?

someone suggest using my domain as lead gen and the other site as the product site, but this would mean 2 seo campaigns then.

Still havnt decided what way to go with this!
