2 Different Products, but GOOGLE considers them same. How to promote the 2 pages then?

Friends,

Lets say I have 2 different products namely,

"ABC" and "PQR", which have their individual pages created.

Problem is when I optimize/promote PQR then it does not get any benefit in ranking,
Since Google considers both my product "ABC" and "PQR" as one and the same.

Though they are different products.

Any ideas how to handle this.

Thank you all for taking time reading this!

How do you know what Google thinks?

Since Google considers both my product "ABC" and "PQR" as one and the same.

    Punit,
can we look at this from another angle? Because Google is an algorithm - and if you are having this problem something in their code is saying "these things match too closely".

Have you used an article spinner to differentiate the two pages? In other words, are your articles markedly different in style and approach? Because Google are now very careful about unique copy, hand written from totally different viewpoints - after all, if you have one product you want at least six pages for it so that you can cover all the possibilities of your market. Sure, only one will win out, but it might not be the one you were expecting.

I hope this helps, if not, get back to me!

      Dear Moriarty,

      Here are my answers,
Have you used an article spinner to differentiate the two pages?
      >> No, I have never used any article spinner.

In other words, are your articles markedly different in style and approach?
      >> Yes they are, let me simplify this, Lets say I have 2 different products i.e Barbed Wire & Razor Wire & both have their individual pages.
      What do you say?

    You said:
Google considers both my product "ABC" and "PQR" as one and the same.
so Google should show exactly same search result for both keyword when you make search but its not happen. So how can u say that, have you exact proof??

What do I say? There is something really odd going on here, that's for sure!

The sort of problem you are having happened a lot after the Panda algorithm change which also sharpened Google's attentiveness to originality. The problem seems to be more subtle.

As an aside - I presume one is ranking and the other is not? Or is it that you aren't getting traffic from one? How are you measuring the effect of Google's action?

      Hi All,
      Here is a live eg:

I Searched for Barbed wire & Google shows Razor wire
Also, here is the searched link:

I think we have a problem with the algorithm. To Google, Razor wire is barbed wire.

Have you used any other search engines? Because Google also has its "personalized search" algorithm installed which gives you results you "like". Put better, which it thinks you like, which is not always the same thing.

Now the key to differentiating these two - if not for your own searches, then at least for others is to define the two wires. Not by what they are (because Google knows this already) but by how - and where - they are used. After all, razor wire is relatively new and depends on better quality steel than barbed wire which is by comparison low quality.

All this can help differentiate them for Google.

    Back to a few questions:

    (1) are you getting traffic from both sources?
    (2) have you checked other search engines - not because they provide more traffic but because Google isn't interfering.
    (3) have you differentiated the two on your pages by usage? Because both are made of steel and are potentially dangerous. What's more people are going to be looking for their uses, or wanting to use them - and they will find them not by putting in "barbed wire" but by "I need some cheap cattle fencing that is easy to put up" - or "I want something to stop people climbing over my high walls that really will stop them"

Any help? I'm around for the next half hour and then off shopping for ... well, not barbed wire that's for sure ;-)

A LAST THOUGHT: the razor wire is displaying as an advertisement - the advertiser is using Google broad-match and probably doesn't have any negatives in their campaign either. They would probably show up for things like nichrome wire and battery cables as well because of the connotations of "wire".

there are a lot of factors involved!

    Hope this helps.

Is your On page optimization proper? You need to check that as well. Also check the keyword density for both the pages.
