Hi,

I don't really bother to mind what my sites pagerank are as I think more whether my sites appear on first page of google. When the Big G updates pageranking does it mean to changes in search results?

Thanks.

No - not in the sense you mean.

Google is constantly updating PageRank internally, and that is one of the signals that feeds into the SERPs, but they only publish a 'snapshot' of PR values 3 or 4 times a year.

These infrequent public updates don't feed back into the SERPs - only their internal PR effects rankings.

That's spot on, and a pity people just toss PR aside and say it doesn't matter.

It does matter, but not as the end all signal.

When it goes down I have personally experience that most of the time it goes down because you haven't been adding new content as of late in which google loves and you may perhaps haven't been building backlinks.
Your content, outside of internal links, has nothing to do with pagerank.

Page rank has nothing to do with whether you add more content to your site or not. Pagerank goes down when some of your backlinks that were resulting the PR in the first place are no longer linked to your site i.e when you lose backlinks. or when google devalues your backlinks.

It improves your position in search results for sure.
I was page rank 0, today I'm page rank 1 (my site is less than 2 months old) and I automatically went from position 6-7 to position 1 for at least 3 of my main keywords.

If you look at what caused the PR increase, that will give you the main reason why you moved up. Hence, your backlinks.

Not much percentage of search results are linked with page rank update. Page rank mainly depends on the high quality backlinks that you get for the website, the ranking of the keyword is one factor whereas the getting page rank is other factor, which needs to handle d by researching of getting quality backlinks.
