Depends on the keywords you are targeting. Part of seo is learning how to chose keywords without much competition. Learn keyword research and you will know how long certain keywords take to rank.

    Good luck...

You still need to know how to build quality backlinks, but knowing how to do proper keyword research will save you a ton of time. Everybody wants to target high traffic keywords, but the time needed to rank for those are not worth the effort in most cases. Sites that rank for high traffic keywords have taken years to get there, and will not just take a back seat to let your site take over their rank.

If you can target buyer keywords that get a fair amount of traffic and are stupid easy to rank for, then you will be in good shape. You don't need million searches keywords to make money, just need buyer keywords that you can rank for easily and move on to the next.

Here is a video I made on how to check the competition for keywords, it's not complete but it's a start.

no point being 1st in google search if there is no enough traffic search.

I think being 1st in google search is over-rated. The keyword must be highly search and low competition. Beside this, it has be been money generating one.
All these can be easily achieved by using Paid Traffic method. SEO is too unpredictable.

Anyway, I used Market Samurai to check out the competition and traffic. Then I will decide if this keyword is worth targeting. I would say 5 keywords are too little to see good results. Try targeting 20-25 semi-competitive keywords and 50-100 for low competitive keywords.

    1) You'll have to learn or outsource SEO.

    2) Depends on competition strength & how much you know about SEO.

You need to optimize your website in search engines via various methods that includes blog posting, article submission, social bookmarking and profile backlinking etc.

However, the quantity of all depends on the complexity of your keywords. But go easy with seo and do not blast sites with your link overnight.

    Good Luck

First of all think seriously about optimizing the website i.e. onsite optimization and then go for offsite activities mentioned below:

      Directory Submission.
      Blog Submission.
      Article Submission.
      Press Release Submission.
      Blog Commenting.
      Social Boomarking Submission.
      Web 2.0 submission.

Ensure that the list of websites for submission should be of high quality, then wait for the results.

    How to reach #1:

    1. Be the "official" website for the term. For instance, "www.honda.com" will always be #1 for "honda" search term, because Google always puts the "official" website for the term (if an official website exists for it) at the top of the results.

    2. Obtain a massive amount of links to your web page. This sometimes works for viral websites.

    3. Put up a massive amount of very valuable content on your website that is related to the search term. Ask yourself "does my website provide more and better information than wikipedia?" If the answer is no, then you have more work to do.

    4. A combo of #2 and #3. Build lots of great content and get lots of links.

yaap i also give priority to on site first because a keyword of my blog rank 1st without any off page optimization. does article submission is worthwhile today??

Yes, length of time depends on how many people are going after your keyword.

Not only that, but what the ROI is on the keyword. Like I'm going after a bunch of low search keywords (around 500 exact searches a month), but they are competitive because they have a massive ROI if you rank for them.

In 3 months, I've managed to get most my keywords between pages 2-5. If you've never ranked a site before however, it could take you 8 months like my first site. Because I had no idea what I was doing and completely ignored the relevancy of my links.

    My recommendation:

Start with keywords that have a low search volume which you can still monetize effectively. Otherwise you'll overwhelm yourself and never do SEO again.

Then, learn how to generate lots of unique content. Become fast at making content. But don't sacrifice quality too much. Thebestspinner can help give you an edge on things. Just learn how to use it propertly, and never use 100% spun articles. Always try to use original content on your main tiers. You can put spun stuff on your second tiers and what have you.

Then simply get to work posting on as many blogs as possible. You can also pick up scrapebox to help you find high pr blogs to manually comment on.

Keep doing this everyday for 3 months, and ideally you'll see a nice improvement. Its essentially my whole SEO strategy in a nutshell. I do a few extra things as well, but web2.0 and blog comments have taken me most of the way.

ps. If you don't know a thing about on page SEO, thats just as important as backlinks, so learn how to do it right.

hello friend, keyword ranking depends upon the keyword kind,

    (a) 2-3 months = keyword with high search and LOW competition.
    (b) 4-6 months = keyword with high search and MEDIUM competition.
    (c) 8-12 months= keyword with high search and HIGH competition.

for keyword ranking choose keyword carefully.
Its better practice to use long tail keywords.
choose keyword which are high search on google. Build quality backlinks from ethical SEO techniques and regularly keep on track your keyword position in http://serp-checker.ezmlm.org/

    best of luck

Create a website and optimize it for "mother in law life size dolls" and you'll be on the first page of Google in no-time!

No, serioulsy... start with creating good quality content and post it on your website and around the web to get some quality back links hopefully. Read, learn... do on-page seo properly... There must be hundreds of books and thousands of videos on the subject freely available.

One good place to start is What Is SEO / Search Engine Optimization?

Just look around this forum, plenty of good tips.

The answer lies in two things, on page seo, and off page seo.

On-page is when you set up your site so that google likes it. In my opinion this is the easy part.

Off-page is when you build backlinks, this is generally where the work and money comes in. Try to get various backlinks with various anchor texts to rank for your keyword.

The third part is profiting, once you get there, learning the best way to monetize a site can be surprisingly hard.

My advice? Take it one at a time, first make a site, second do some seo, third start testing your ads to get best results.

Fourth step? Do it all again.

I highly recommend Evan Bailyn's Outsmarting Google. It is an easy guide to dominating the SERPS My site achieved a PR2 in just 50 days of creating the site by using his tips. And I'm top of google for one of my phrases already being just over 2 months old - it gets around 1,000 searches a month. You can order his book on amazon. Evan Bailyn's Outsmarting Google was published in 2011 so most likely written in 2009 and 2010. This means that the advice predates the big furry animals that are playing havoc with websites good and bad. Is there a 1 page summary of this book's takeaways.

It depends on the competition. If there are many people ranking for that keyword it is better to move away from that keyword. Find low competition keywords and go for it. Put adsense to monetize your website. To rank a website you need to do on-page seo and off-page seo.

for onpage seo just use seopressor and for offpage seo use magic submitter and gsa search ranker

/\ I agree. I have dozens of videos ranking above google places, in the top 3 next to websites that have been building backlinks for the last xxxx however many months.

Youtube is a vital / crucial / essential part of online marketing, and anyone who doesn't do it has no idea what they're missing out on.

I actually started with youtube because I had NO IDEA how to get traffic or do SEO, but doing this for YT was extremely simple. Just optimize the hell out of a video/keyword stuff, there are no stupid rules that can get you in trouble, then blast the video to oblivion with backlinks.

On top of that, if its a real competitive keyword, I'll order a fiver gig to promote it for a couple of months. But youtube is a goldmine when used the right way. No doubt about it. Plus I like the fact that you can do blackhat and get away with things that normal websites can't do. Add that to the authority youtube already has, and you have a recipe for success.
