1. Purchased a dud domain 3 months ago - dud as it has no backlinks in majestic, opensite & ahrefs
After the update it is still PR4 - how is this possible ?

2. Another one of my sites 6 months old, still not even appearing in results for keywords - Its gone from Pr0 -PR4 but gets around 3 visits a day and still does not rank for low competition keyword. What do you think is happening ?

    1. PR updates usually lag behind the actual PR by quite a bit. So just because it still is holding a PR 4 after this recent update doesn't mean it is actually a PR 4.

    Backlink checkers also will only find a small percentage of the actual backlinks that exist to a site. Usually anywhere from 5-25% of the links at most. So there could be good backlinks out there you do not know about.

    2. PR does not guarantee rankings. The PR of a page only is a small factor in its ranking.

      If I did a 301 to another one of my sites with the dodgy PR4 domain would this give results that can prove it ?

    PR is just the authority of the page. Backlinks checkers will never find all links pointing to your domain.
