Squidoo Backlink Question

I know that squidoo backlinks are not worth much if the page authority is low. I wrote an article a few months ago and the page authority is already at 43. Is this normal? The article is nothing special.

Take that squidoo page and build it into a link wheel or building some links pointed to it and since it points directly to ur main page even if you bought a stupid amount of back links to it It won't look as bad because u got a Web 2.0 buffer.

Hope this helps. I used it when creating my site Baton Rouge Wedding Venues - Albany Plantation

I use squidoo of link wheel purposes as well. I understand that it's a it hard to rank squidoo pages. But sometimes, depending on what you write or what keys you've used, it's just up there. Nevertheless, free site like this is good for building links that would ultimately point to your main money site.

Squidoo got 96/100 Page authority.. with PR7 domain... Do you still think its waste????

Well, my experience says use all kind of white hat techniques in Off-Page SEO.... because use of 1-3 specific techniques can hurt your campaign as well. :-)

Just don't depend too much on one site to build your backlinks...there are other higher authority sites that you can use.

Squidoo is awesome, because their pages get PR1-PR3 very easily (as long as your lens gets a decent amount of traffic).

      Squidoo IS awesome. Period.

I would not put any faith in any, and I mean ANY, so-called
authority checker. Complete BS, probably for promotional
purposes. Hey, come check your page authority! There is no
way anyone can measure what google calls authority.
IMHO, authority is something you know is there, but cannot
      show it.

Besides, squidoo by any metric, would be skewed due to the
domain. A subdomain's page, like a blogspot page, may show
some real signs, due to the "authority" of the subdomain, and
      should be separated from blogspot.

Completely agree. Because of their internal link structure, I have multiple PR4+ pages there with absolutely no backlinking on my part.

I started out on squidoo many years ago. If you hit a lens with constant links you can rank very high on google. As for using them for links to your own site I would not bother. For new websites I always use Knowem and build a profile on every site with a link back to my site and use them as a buffer to money site.
