Hi Everyone--

Will I be penalized for adding links matching my target keywords to my footer (which appears on every page)?

Also, I keep reading about having my NAP in my footer (which I currently don't have). Is this hurting me?

THNX FOR THE HELP!!

In my understanding, footer links in the sense of a site map are fine, a majority of big sites do this. If you are just loading it up with links for no reason though, you might want to watch out.

How I usually think about things are like this: will this benefit the user? If so, then its fine. And if not, well then screw you google, I'm trying to design quality websites, not what your algorithms want.

If it's internal links, exact anchor-text isn't a problem, use them in moderation.

I've never seen anything negative come from it, but I would do it sparingly.
