Google doesn't recognise my keywords?

Hello,

I have a website in the music niche that sells beats for artists. The webpage was orignally bought as a .com but after webs decided not to tell me my 2 year domain subcription had expired - the domain was backordered and the company wanted $15K to have my domain back.

As a result I didn't re-open the website until August when I bought a new .net domain. I did some keyword research and found an amazing keyword generating about 135k global searches and low competition. Not even one site have the keyword in full but its straight to the point which is why I thought I'd found a winner. I put this keyword and other close related ones to the site title, description and tags.

In google if I type my keyword - the site does not show not even in the first 10 pages - in fact I gave up trying to find it - I only started creating content for the website again month ago again.

And then when I log into Google Webmaster tools in the right hand side under ''Optimization'' > ''Content Keywords'' - The keywords that I can see here are random words taken from random places on my website. Some are to the point e.g ''beats, instrumentals' as the first two. But then rest are pretty much random text on my website such as ''tracks, email, benefit''

I don't get where I've gone wrong - I know I'll have to do some SEO to rank higher but how can I do that if Google is fxcking my keywords?

You probably aren't doing anything wrong. Google takes awhile to get their head on straight as to what new websites are about. Give it a few more weeks and webmaster tools should start reflecting accurate keywords.

As far as your metadata, google doesn't really care very much about metadata anymore. They will usually use your description in the SERPS, but that's about all.

If you are using wordpress, the google spider can sometimes get lost in the loop. Wrap your content in section targeting code, or if you aren't comfortable with that, google "adsense section targeting" and install a plugin after you are familiar with the concept.

Go to Google keyword tool, put your website in there, hit enter, see what keywords Google says your home page is about.

Then do the same for your other important pages.

You'll have a good understanding of what Google thinks your site is about.

If it's way off, you'll need to rewrite content, tags, etc.
