G Webmaster Tools - where did my links go?

I have just been playing around for the last few months, making a small site that I have interest in, trying to learn stuff without putting much cash out there.

My rankings dropped off the planet a couple months ago on a number of keywords, but not all. I noticed my link count from Google Webmaster Tools had dropped a couple hundred links - but most of those appeared to be from blogs where my links were stuck to some module that was on all their pages - no big deal, it was bound to happen.

A couple weeks ago, the link count dropped by more than half - but this time, I went out looking and I could see tons that were still there. I was hoping maybe Google had some issue and it would be fixed the next time numbers were updated.

Today I have 10 links showing. What the heck?

When I do "site:www.mysite.com" all my pages come back as usual. The keywords that still rank haven't moved much in the last couple weeks.

Is this just typical of that tool? Or am I about to be slammed and deindexed?

The only sketchy links I have are a few from EZArticle link - should I dump them all? It sure doesn't seem like it's helping at this point...
