Sending traffic to an offer from various places - how to track conversions?

Hi there

I am sending traffic directly to an offer where the clicker must download an extension for it to be a conversion - I have an ad on FB, Bing and 7Search.

How do I track which ad each conversion is coming from?

I'm new to this so a step by step or a link to a step by step guide would be brilliant!

Cheers!

Make sure that each traffic stream has a different landing page url. The landing page can be the same in each case, the url being different means you know where the traffic is coming from. Extending this to your freebie shouldn't be too hard - just have the same system for that page too.

So: let's see if this meets your needs.

Step 1 set up your landing page for Facebook. Label it www.yourdomain.com/landingpage-facebook.html

Step 2 you have the offer there. You have one link at the top of the page (if this is allowed by the advertiser) with http://www.yourdomain.com/offer-down...ebook-top.html
you have a "buy it now/download it now" in the middle of the page and it lands to http://www.yourdomain.com/offer-down...ok-middle.html
and one at the bottom which lands on http://www.yourdomain.com/offer-down...ok-bottom.html

All of these point to your www.yourdomain.com/download-freebie.html

This does require a lot of hard work - and as you get more used to analytics solutions (which can do all of this for you) you can move across to them. Learning them will benefit you immensely as it will save you lots of time. In the short term, learning the basics of tracking are way more important than analytics as the insights you get will act as a foundation for everything you do.

Careful analysis of what you want to achieve will save you time and mountains of confusing data. Keep your thinking simple and you will get clear, sensible advice from your webstats or analytics applications.

Complex and befuddled thinking leads you to loads of rubbish - garbage in, garbage out.

    Does this help? M

Thank you for that - BUT I am direct linking right now - not using landing pages. The offer in this case is a webpage from which people need to download an extension (that's the only action they can take on the page) - I just need to get people to that page.

I want to know which ads are sending conversions. (ie. where someone has reached the page and downloaded the extension).

I have a relevant domain name which I am using to forward to the offer URL (my affiliate link) with masking.
