Hey guys, I was doing some internet marketing and SEO research and every time that I perform such a search I see SEOBook. Does SEO book really provide high quality information to help you dominate the Engines? Anyone have experience with SEObook?

They have good information, a good forum, and good tools. If it were free, I'd highly recommend it. If it were a reasonable amount per month, I'd recommend it. But for $300/month I think it's way too expensive. There's lots of good and free or inexpensive info on SEO that I don't think you need to spend that much.

I've been a member twice - both for 1 month periods. They will also pro-rate your fees if you cancel after a week or two. There is good info there and if you have some questions you really need help with the forum is great. I think if it was more like $100 monthly instead of $300 i'd be a member, but I just can't justify the $300 monthly.

Yeah, the pro-rate is an option. If you're looking for a crash course in basic SEO and you want everything in one place you could join for a week, which would cost you about $75. But honestly, there's nothing on that site that you can't find elsewhere for free. It's just handy that it's in one place.

If it were free there would be no way to run it. A big part of the value of the site is that the paywall creates a barrier to entry, which increases the quality of our membership base. It also limits the size of the site such that we are able to answer everyone's questions. I don't think it would work being free unless we really polluted the site with ads, but even then I don't think the quality would be maintained if it had no cost...I don't think I could justify working as long as I do.

thanks for the shout out kindsvater

the hardest part about staying competitive in terms of mindshare in the SEO niche is that some of the other sites in the space now have 50 to 100 employees, speak at all the conferences, etc. as a comparison, our company has 4 people (1 of which is me & another is part time) who work on the site. we do push hard to ensure we serve our customers well, but we haven't done as much on the awareness/outreach front over the past few years.

I think the keys to winning are not just tools or information but also the willingness to aggressively invest both time & money (but probably moreso time than money for anyone new to the game). That and a willingness to test things out and track response.

You can get a general feel for our approach by reading our SEO introduction series here seobook.com/learn-seo/ & I would recommend doing that before considering joining the paid side of the site.
