Hi,

I have got a group of product with moderate competition in Market Samurai but when I go to google the first five to six sites are mostly big shopping websites.

Is it worth targeting those keywords or will be just wasting of time as big giants are at the top.

My example keyword is - knee high boots for women, around 1000 exact searches and moderate competition in Market Samurai

It depends on whether those big shopping sites are ranking for the keyword "by default" or not.

Are they on top because they've created good on-topic webpages and have backlinks to those webpages saying how great it is... or are they only ranking because Google doesn't have any other quality websites to show for that search result?

If it's the former... it'll take ages to out-rank them
If it's the latter... you're in with a shot. :-)

--- The back links are very moderate I found for some keywords there are even less than 10 pack links, the page rank also less than 2 but they are subpages of big sites..

It sounds like you may be able to out-rank them, over time. It's never easy for a brand new site, though.

Try attacking the niche crab-wise, starting with the lowest competition keywords and working up to more competitive ones. If you can't crack the lowest competition ones, consider trying a different niche.

    Surinsa,
you have a keyword (phrase) "knee high boots for women" and the place is packed to the rafters. What are you to do?

Take a note from Neil (above) and attack crab-wise. You can ask yourself what goes through the mind of a woman looking for such footwear. Answer that question and you might get somewhere - only most people go looking for boots, right? So what about using PPC? You have a lot more control that way and can tailor your approach to women who really want the kind of boots you're selling.

Targeting directly for the keywords for which webesite with high domain authority ranks, is not an easy task. First you have to check their webpages for which they are ranking, then try to copy their backlink profile and finally perform regular article creation.
