Hello,
I have couple of websites which have PR2 and PR3 and they are as it is from last 1.5 years.
I am putting lot of unique articles over there, they are hand written. Also building backlinks.
PR prediction tool show PR might increase to PR3 and PR5 respectively.
Why it is not growing ?

    1. PR tools are simply basing it on the number of links and PR of pages from which you have backlinks. Google also considers quality of backlinks.

    2. Google does not update PR very often (I mean proper update). So it can take from couple months up to 6 months for it to update PR.

    3. It takes much more links to jump to PR5. To get PR3 you usually need to have 2-3 links from PR3 websites.

PR is still part of algorithm but we all know that toolbar PR is outdated and not anymore useful and maybe something else as it is showing on toolbar. I'd say don't focus on increasing website PR, focus on your quality of SEO and links and try to produce links from higher traffic PR i.e. where huge no. of people (net surfers) visit daily.

Hope you didn't pay for your "PR prediction" tool.

Increasing PR is a little like the richter scale for earthquakes in that the next level up isn't an incremental scale, it's roughly a logarithmic scale.

pr depends on quality links . if you have links from sites which have very low pr then it wont count much

If you want your sites to give PR3+ then all of your backlinks must be from high authority site of PR 7+.
.edu or .gov links might help you to increase you site's pr as well.

I'm not really sure if the domain extension matters all that much. But, then again, I never really bought into the ".edu" hype.

To the OP, PR fluctuates a lot more than we know. Google only really shares it with us a handful of times a year.

Why are you seeking to increase your PR? It's not guaranteed that it will increase despite your best efforts. And what benefit will you get if it does increase? Would you efforts be better spent seeking to grow/attract traffic to your site rather than chae PR. Just a thought.

I think to increase your PR, you need to get more backlinks from sites with high PR. Otherwise you can have many backlinks but if they are coming for sites with low PR, they will most probably not increase your ranking.

Another thing to keep in mind is that PR is constantly getting more and more spread out.

Because there are more pages added to the internet it takes more links to get the same PR as it did a few years ago.

So if you're only adding a few links here and there you're PR may actually shrink.

I have been wondering about this as well. We have this site that we're working on for years. We migrated everything to a wordpress site a couple of years ago. We had and still have a pr of 0. But we do get a decent number of unique visitors per day (which keeps the business going). However, the pr stayed the same. We have done regular building of links and other SEO you can think of. I just hope that one day he pr gets to a higher rank.

Your PR is based on the PR of the links pointing back to you. That may be an oversimplification, but that's basically how it works.

Fortunately, PR is not the be-all-end all. Sure, you'd like to have pages (not just your site) with PR. But, you can definitely outrank pages that are poorly optimized compared to yours. No matter their PR. The ones that seem fairly tough to outrank are the ones with BOTH a decent PR and properly optimized content.

PR is a ridiculous measure of how well you are doing, much better to watch your stats instead, look for jumps in traffic and jumps in SE positions...Building links for PR alone is a complete waste of resources.

Google is moving away from the PR based algorithm. It's a vanity metric and nothing more..

PR is updated officially from Google, time to time, so you have to wait for the pr update, then you can know if pr of your website is increased or decreased.

Get more links and more juice.

PR isnt everything though, lots of other great metrics. Why do you care though?

Care about traffic, links, rankings, user metrics. You know, the stuff that makes money.

My main site makes me $10k month and its a PR3... so really, it doesnt matter one bit.
