Is it the website in your signature? If so it is super light on content.

I always believe SEO is more advantageous than PPC. One of the biggest benefits of SEO is it is cheaper and in most cases, free . When successful, you can have unlimited, stable traffic without spending too much.

PPC is also good way to get direct traffic but based from experience, not all sites/niches are PPC-friendly. If you have the budget, you can try PPC.

However, it would be good it you try first SEO then PPC for additional traffic.

dear both have the different benefits, if you start your business then you should rely on both, SEO as well as PPC. SEO is much cheap than the PPC and also has long term benefits.

PPC is paid service but best than SEO, you can promote your website through paid service and achieve your goal.

It should not be an either or, both work well together. PPC is like a faucet that you can turn on and off, SEO will result in a traffic but you can't really control the rate in which it flows (or when it flows).

I prefer SEO, it gives us stable result but if you want result in a short period but it is not for long time means it is not stable.

With all the updates and constant penalties we have noticed an increase in clients using paid traffic.

The main idea behind this is, once you have a positive ROI you can outsource your SEO to a white hat company for long term success

Easier said than done of course

      Hi WEBGEEK,

I only partially agree with your assertion. SEO often is cheaper, but only in the right circumstances. If you are targeting a niche that has little competition then SEO is generally cheap and easy. However, SEO is always very expensive in medium to high competition industries, and most profitable and worthwhile niches will have a good deal of competition. In some cases SEO alone is not even practical to enter those markets.

      Hi a-portal,

I have found that SEO is never free, nor rarely even cheap, in a niche that is profitable and big enough to base a business on. It is fine for a hobbyist, but not reliable, nor sufficient as a sole marketing method for a real business.

I would suggest that it may be better to reverse your strategy of SEO first. I find it much smarter to test a niche with PPC and do a round of landing page optimization before pursuing an expensive SEO campaign.

SEO is expensive for me because it takes so much time, I can get more money for paid campaigns, but time is a commodity that is limited to a mere 24 hours per day. Of course I can purchase labor, and I do, however managing people also takes more time.

I use PPC to gather data quickly that I can use in SEO campaigns, and that just doesn't work in reverse, Getting useful data from an SEO campaign always takes a lot more time, and I don't have time to waste.

      Hi trafficmasters,

I believe that your clients are using a brilliant strategy.

I have been using the profits from PPC campaigns to finance SEO campaigns which generally take much longer to become profitable. This has allowed me to completely dominate targeted niches forcing the competitors to close up shop and go away. It nice to dominate.

You really should be doing BOTH.

Also there is one important difference: SEO (if done well) will give you MUCH better targeting than PPC ever could. However - it takes longer and you won't get the same volumes of visits (not all that quickly anyway). Also, it's NOT cheaper. If anything, it's more expensive - except that either you pay with your time - or you outsource.

PPC and other paid traffic sources can also be cheap - but if you're not careful, you'll get what you paid for. There ARE excellent paid traffic sources, but each requires a lot of study and testing for each particular niche.

I would agree with mktcoach on this.

PPC or other paid traffic will also bring instant results. You can then use these results to build out an SEO campaign, SEO will also takes longer to bring results,
      Both is the best option

Once again, we have a battle about SEO vs PPC. Strange coming from someone with two links in his signature related to web promotion and SEO.

There is not one that is "better" than the other. They both have their pluses and minuses.

"Better" is subjective too and depends on many things. One will say SEO is better because they get lots of traffic. Another says the same about PPC. Would they get more by giving the other side a try? Of course.

It's not about the better option. It's about trying to get traffic any way you can. It should not be an either/or. There are also other traffic generating methods. For some niches, and how well you implement those methods, one may turn out to be better than PPC or SEO.

As someone else said, which tastes better, an apple or an orange. I like them both but not all apples. I like Macintosh but not granny smith. In other words, there's different flavors of SEO and PPC so you may use a Macintosh and not a granny Smith for a pie. I also like bananas and they have their use too.

    So, investigate all options.

    I have always disliked PPC.

My ROI has always sucked. By ranking youtube videos, ranking google places, seo, craigslist or facebook, my ROI is always better. First time I did PPC I burned like $600, got 2 phone calls, and both were terrible leads.

Second time I did I burned $300, and got a bunch of clicks but no calls at all.

But with youtube and other things, we get calls perfectly fine. We also get a lot more traffic, but it costs a lot cheaper. Its just a few months of ranking youtube videos, and once the funnel is set up the traffic always comes in. Craigslist also isn't a lot of work. I spin 1 high quality pitch, copy and paste on 6 different accounts, takes like 30 mins to do, and we always get calls. Its typically not more than a dozen throughout the week, but the ROI is still a lot better. I've just never liked PPC. I don't trust it and I never liked the ROI on it either. I realize there is a lot to learn, but I'd much rather learn other things. Nor do I like the fact that google always seems to be "forcing" businesses to get involved in PPC, and google can kiss my ass.

You can simply use PPC to get your site up and running WHILE you do SEO for your site. Once you rank your keywords with SEO .... stop the PPC.

    My favourite topic that is

In my opinion PPC is the best traffic source - quality, targeted, works fast, brings longterm results, when campaigns are crated the right way it can be even cheap.

They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

SEO takes time, a little bit on the high side in terms of cost, targeted traffic and becomes free after ranking your keywords.

While ppc is instant targeted traffic but expensive.

For small business I recommend SEO while big companies ppc.

If you are not the likes of fiverr, eBay, amazon and others that can't directly optimize their sites for a particular keywords than go for SEO, you can still use ppc if you want to test a program or start cashing in immediately.

SEO and PPC both have their own importance. If you want instant traffic then you can choose PPC but if you have good amount of time then started with SEO i.e. Organic Campaign of the website.

Also it depends upon the theme/nature of the website. If the website is E-commerce based then opting for Paid Campaigns will be beneficial. In E-commerce websites as there are number of products and for each product seo is not possible, by the time it got ranked might be you have changed the products.

In case you are having time and budget then you can opt for both - start with the paid campaign and in the mean do organic optimization as well. Both will bring good results for the website.

    Hope it helps you.

seo is the better the ppc,
For true Inbound Marketing success, there's no substitute for organic SEO. Once you understand the benefits it creates for your website – and ultimately for your business – you'll see that to improve your results in search rankings, organic SEO is where you need to start.

SEO is better than ppc, when you do good SEO and have your site ranked, you will find out keyword that brings conversion on your site by studying your google analytics. PPC will then be effective, when you bid on those keyword which have been converting for you
