One authority vs 9 Micro niche sites

Hello Warriors!

I wanted to start my biggest journey jet on my IM path, but I'm struggling to make a choice right now.

Should I go with making one powerful authority site. Or should I go with 9 MNS.

What has been your experience? Wich of these two ways drives the most traffic. How long did it took, to drive decent traffic to your authority site?

I haven't build an authority site yet, that is why I'm curious, because I've had experience with MNS, but not with authority. Please share your experience.

Thanks.

Why not do both? You can use the MNS sites to link back to the authority site to give it some extra high relevant authority. Just be careful with your link building and make sure of a good anchor diversity.

If you have good back link resources then you can kick off an authority site just as fast as 9 micro niche sites. Time really doesn't matter, unless you have a site with 10.000's of pages that you need to rank, then it's easy to run out of resources.

Well the problem is budget, I can't do both. That is why I have to decide.

If you don't have budget you're probably better of with the authority model as if you go for 9 micro niche sites you don't have the budget to back link them all properly so you will start to do it in a very cheap/automated way and probably damage your sites and just burning through money.

One site will always be better than nine. You put more effort in the bigger site so you see better results. That keeps you motivated.

Go for authority. It will drive more traffic and long tail. Write something for it everyday for 3 months. Don't ever stop actually. Takes me 3 months to rank #1 for a keyword competition (seoc) of 90,000 in market samurai. I've done it a few times now with different authority sites in the same niche. Four months into it on my latest site I have 700+ uniques a day.

I would definitely avoid putting all eggs into one basket - despite the fact that your link profile is perfectly white hat, you risk too much with one site (you know how many legit websites lost all rankings over night). I would try with 3 sites - each one with a bit different backlinking approach.

I think that building 3 authority sites would be very expensive. A lot more, then 9 MNS. But I think that I could go with two. Thanks for the advice.

1 authority is always better than 9. Stay focused and build your site with good real content. In that way, no google updates will ever harm your site ranking. Put yourself in the shoes of a visitor looking for information. What site do you want to see? Follow this model and you will always remain an authority site in google eyes

Building an authority site is a great idea, although take your time choosing because you don't want to go into it and only be half hearted about it.

I made my first niche site 2 days ago, I got the exact match domain aswell and the keyword is searched around 5,600 exact times monthly.

I had a look on Google, Yahoo and Bing yesterday and the site is already indexed and ranking in the middle of page 4 on all search engines. This is with only one 900 word article with good on page SEO.

As I thought this was quite impressive, I have had some ideas to make this small niche into a larger niche site. At the moment I have done 3 guest posts to sites with 2 of the sites with a PR 2 and 1 PR1.

There is no competition in this niche, so I am expecting to be placed at least on the next page within a few days of the backlinks being indexed.

I think if you find a small niche with lots of searches, get that ranking and add 4 other articles by doing some good keyword research, I think niche sites can take off fairly well.

I'll update how the site gets on in the next few days of its ranking

A large site trumps mini sites every time from an SEO perspective, a management perspective, a site awareness and marketing perspective. Even from a motivational perspective because it's easier/funner to keep track of one set of rankings than 9 different sets of keywords.

I know, that it is better in SEO. But I'm more interested in profit that they can generate. I'm not sure, with whom I could generate more. With one authority or 9 MNS.

If your looking to make quicker money then a small niche site with no competiton with and exact match domain will work because you can make it rank easily if you do your on page SEO properly. Also keyword research is important so try to find a high searched term with at least a few thousand searches.

I recently found 2 exact match domains with keywords that generate 8,100 searches each if you would like me to pm them to you. There available but I don't know much about the niche.

Also making a high authority site takes time, hard work, good content and so on.

How are you generating profit from the site? Seo gets you traffic and so does ppc, email lists. More traffic = more profit. Making profit has nothing to do with having a big site or a small site. I'm just saying, building a large site has more advantage in getting traffic through seo.

I really don't understand what you're asking. It's like asking what generates more profit, a site about fish or a site about dogs. There's no reason why someone would buy a product on a small site instead of a big site and (generally) vice versa.

Well I agree with all what you said. And the way that I'm thinking to make money is by getting some daily adsense revenue. Lets say a dollar per day. That means it is 9 dolars together per day. 270$ per month. And we could flip this blog network for about 1600$. This is how I make money with MNS.

But if I will start an authority site it will be a completely different story.

If i was you, i'd defo go with an authority niche site.

When buillding an authority niche site, not only can you target very low competitive keywords, you'll also pick up rankings in the long tail keyword department. (even without SEO, for those longtails)

The problem is with micro niche sites is, when you hit all those keywords in that small particular niche, where can you go from there?

With authority niche site, you can literally dominate a whole niche!

Authority niche sites you can promote advertisements, related training programs, build up a list in that niche, then sell them a training program. Sell them "how to " programs. The list is endless...

You'll have a much bigger audience with authority niche site then you would with a micro niche site.
