Question about Exact Match Domains

Hey warriors, specifically warriors who are SEO experts,

I am in a situation where my website was hit last Jan.17, 2013 by something I have yet to figure out. According to Google it was Panda... but am not sure. My website which used to rank on page 1 for a number of keywords disappeared just like that. It wasn't a google penguin penalty or anything like that, nor was it deindexed, since my link profile is legit, or so I would think. I did find other sites that duplicated my content, which might be the cause and have filed the necessary complaints with DMCA. Some sites have already been taken down the rest will probably take more time. Anyway, while waiting for this issue to resolve, I need to get more organic traffic from Google. I am thinking of setting up a couple of fresh websites with exact match domains and am looking for advice on how to tackle EMD domains without getting canned by Google. What are the limitations on content and keywords for EMD domains? Is this a good idea or is there a better idea? I have several youtube videos ranking decently for the same keywords I am having trouble with, but I would like my website or any of the new websites to be solidly ranking there as well.

Also, if I had a couple of new websites with EMD domains, will it be ok for these sites to mention my brand from my old website (the one I am having problems with) and possibly link back to it? Or can I brand those new sites like my old one - company name and all?

Would appreciate any advice on this as my knowledge on what Google has been doing lately is rather limited. Thanks.

Over the past 4 months I have been working on my blog and a few day ago, I decided to try and make a niche site. I got the domain then I used wordpress and put 2 articles on the site which were SEO very well. I had the keyword in the domain and the keyword is searched over 5000 times monthly. I have the site ranking for its main keyword in Google page 4, Yahoo page 2 and Bing page 2 without any backlinks.

Yesterday I added some PR4 and PR 2 backlinks, so should see a boost soon. I think small niche sites are a great way to get fast traffic, then if you want, you can promote amazon, clickbank or make money from adsense. It all depends on your niche.

P.S it only took 3 days to get the domain and get indexed on page 4

    Regards
    Larry

Firstly, please learn to use paragraphs, lol. That post gave me a headache to read... but I did it!

My advice is not to buy an exact match domain for the reason you need one.

EMDs will not rank better than a legitimate domain name given the same level of offpage SEO.

If you are linking to your old websites just make sure all your websites are not hosted within the same account, or at the very least they all contain different c-class records. Google will know exactly what you are trying to do so why not start with some more white-hat SEO that is proven to work.

I would also suggest NOT getting exact match domains. Those days are gone.

I recently wrote a post how Matt Cutts and Google are working on a way to "level the playing field" for those who over optimize their sites compared with the sites that have good SEO and great content.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Well, I just thought of bringing up the idea since I need more exposure for my keywords while my main website is still in the dumps.

I read this article: The Exact Match Domain Playbook: A Guide and Best Practices for EMDs | SEOmoz

and it basically says that EMDs still work and can actually be a legitimate strategy for as long as you play nicely and along Google's guidelines. Any thoughts...

Now, what I plan to do is get a couple EMDs for my top keywords (the ones I used to rank well for and get a lot of traffic from before all the madness) and fill it up with great content plus a white hat link profile. Basically, in the end, I just want those sites to serve as bridges to my old site... in order to get more organic traffic to the old site, while we figure out how to get it back to its original rankings. What do you guys think? Will Google see this as web spam if I link them to my old website or use my original brand on these EMDs?

Exact match domains rank very well as they always have. So I suggest get few of them if available, they always rank much faster.

Most sites are EMD's for something, Google cannot penalize your site just because its an EMD.

You just can't over-optimize the main keyword onpage and offpage

Like I said before above, I got an EMD and i have it indexed on page 4, and the domain was only 3 days old. EMD do work, but you should always still provide good value in each article you add. And don't backlink to much on a new domain, it will raise a red flag for Google too.

Just play it safe and keep it looking natural, you will soon be on page 1, just takes patience and a bit of work

Some rank faster than others in my experience, or it could be still in the early "Google dance" stages. Wait a week or two to see where it ends up. In the mean time just focus on writing quality content.

9/10 of my websites are EMD's, not a single one has been hit or deranked since years. The ones who are hit must have used something against the TOS for google to spank their ass for, like xrumer/senuke services or something. Any type of mass linking or automated sh#t.. or copied content.
