How is this site redirecting search engine traffic?

Hmm, been pondering over this for quite some time.

http://abcirclepro.org/ redirects all search engine traffic (from google etc) to Amazon. If you go to the page directly, it doesn't redirect.

Their url: http://abcirclepro.org/

How are they redirecting the traffic from Google, without getting a penalty? They've been doing it for 3+ months now.

Edit: seems to redirect upon a redirected visit too (click from WF). If you type the URL, it doesn't redirect.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

Most likely, they are doing it through their .htaccess file. You can redirect traffic based on source.

So for example, you could redirect any traffic coming from any .com to whatever page you want. You could do the same thing with every TLD. That is probably what they are doing.

If Google Bot is the visitor, or the website is directly referenced without a header referral URL then show website. Else redirect to Amazon.

Can easily be done via code.

      My theory anyway.
