O Hai There,

I'm a newb with what I think is a great niche, I'm a bona fide expert in my niche and really want to get backlinks to my site but can't seem to get any links from my efforts. The only knowledge I have on SEO I've gleaned from the now out of date 30 Day Challenge and getting accurate info from elsewhere is akin to trying to drink from a firehose.
Things I do for links:
-Leave quality informative comments (I get paid to give people this information in the job I do) on related blogs with a link to my site
-Write articles on the subject and submit on eZines
-Post forum comments with a backling in my sig and body whenever possible
I'm also curious to know whether to use my Disqus account to post or not, a big e-hug to anyone who can give me a daily task list which will help me increase my rank and get a bit of love to my site.
Mwah

Have you tried guest posting? You can start slowly and get links relevant to your niche.

    In my opinion...

I wouldn't worry with forum comments and blog comments. If you head over to the Warrior Special Offer forum there are all sorts of backlink services there if money is no object. However, you can get some nice free backlinks simply by doing the following:
    • creating a short video and posting it on Youtube and putting your site URL in description.
    • TrySlideshare (3+ slides, create in Powerpoint or Open Office, put link in description).
    • Article writing is always good.
    • Try also Squidoo if you have a ton of information about this niche.
    • Create a Facebook page and put a link back to your site
    • Create a Twitter account and link back to your site
    • Search Warrior Forum for other cool backlink strategies (tons of data here)

You want to build natural looking backlinks to keep Google on your side, don't go and buy services which will make tons of backlinks over a short period of time then stop linking completely. This is the kind of thing Google looks for, try guest posting (which i recommend, it works well for me) You should looking into making different kinds of content related to your niche and adding it to sites like scribd, issuu, soundcloud, YouTube, Vimeo, press release, ezine, social book marking, some blog commenting, forum marketing for links and related traffic.

Then link all this content to your inner pages, then do the process over again for each post and page.

      There are so many ways

I agree with the above warriors. make sure your backlinks are relative to the product or

service you are selling. Also make sure the links are do follow links because that is what

google likes. I also use a website called social marker . com to get great social bookmark

    link juice.

Also agree with above marketers, and keep in mind the google algorithm often changes - what worked well last month, might not be so good now.

One good strategy is to reverse engineer the back links of the top competitors in your given niche. You can use a software like market samurai or majestic seo to do this for you. Find out what they are doing, and copy them. Aim for gaining parity with your competitors, then add social media and web 2.0 sites with high PR for extra juice.

SEO is very time consuming if you are doing this yourself manually, so why not outsource it at sites like odesk? You'll find a specialist for a few bucks an hour...

As some of them already said, Try Guest Posting in relevant niche sites. It would help increase your site's authority.
