Is this a good keyword?

Hi all, I've made a site and am currently trying to rank for a long tail keyword.

For the long tail keyword (8 words), the global monthly searches are: 18,100
And local: 8,100

I'm currently the third result on page 5 of Google.

However, I just discovered that I am ranking for a two word keyword that has these stats:
Global Monthly Searches: 165,000
Local Searches: 90,500

I'm currently the last result on page one of this two word keyword. (The two words are in the long tail).

Is this two word keyword a good keyword to rank for?

So what is the exact number of searches?

I think it would be at least 100?

The two-word keyword ranking higher because it is relevant to the content and it is optimized good...

  I wouldn't bother trying to rank for a keyword which only has 100 monthly searches mate, try and find a keyword with higher searches using the "exact".

Two word -
Global: 22
Local: < 10

8 Word -
Global: 390
Local: 210

Yeah. Hopefully my site will rank for the other keyword in my long tail phrase as that has 74,000 exact searches globally.

I used the AdWords keyword tool.

The competition for the long tail is low, and the competition for the 74,000 exact global monthly searches is medium.

  The indicators - low/mid/high competition - show you the competition of Google Adwords PPC platform. They are not showing you the competition of SERP.
  
  You have to analyze top 10 manually (backlinks, domain age, PR etc).
