Test website doesn't rank at all

hi there, 
I know i am late with this but beside my affiliate marketing where i earn decent with at the moment i decided to give microniche blogging a try just for fun. So i found a easy to rank 3 word keyphrase, bought an emd, made about 15 pages of unique selfwritten content. (+-500 word articles i wrote)
All wordpress based, seo plugins etc.. added website to google. Made some diversity of backlinking (blogcomments,social signals,press release,submissions etc..) and just sat and wait.
now when i do in google site:blabla.com it shows up with all its pages as indexed. But nowhere to be found in the first 10 pages for my keywords (i haven't looked further). It's been nearly a month now.. i checked my backlinks and about +70% are indexed.
Am i doing something wrong or is this whole concept very very dead? :p
A website i made last december for a non-profit organization i managed to get it to PR3 with exact same backlinking within 40 days. This one doesn't seem to respond to any offpage seo.
