How can this site be 2nd in google?

I don't believe it could be ranked #1 - what is your keyword. I just used Open Site Explorer to check the site out and they don't have any back links - so its not that.

The only thing it could be is that its a Blogspot site - but even that would not automatically have it be in the top 10 or even top 100 positions.

Oops! that blog is empty. Probably most of the sites targeted the particular keyword might got hit on algorithmic update, so nothing special.

the blog in question is written in Estonian, Estonia is just a hop skip and a jump from Russia so yeah.... could be foul play. Not to say that everyone is a hacker in russia, but it just so happens that the above site is about payday loans can't get spammier than that. JMO

Thanks for all your replies. The keyword is an Estonian word "kiirlaenud" which means fast payday loans and I used pagewash.com to check search results. It is also the name of the blog but it still could not possibly put it in second position. It's been there for 2-3 days, but maybe longer since I have not checked before. And to think I bought domains and wrote lots of content and this thing still outranks me... amazing

Hm... the link you gave me doesn't have much content either, tabs on this site link to blogs that have been deleted and one tab links here SMS laen*|*SMS laen informatsioon. There isn't much content there either. From that site, in the bottom there are three more links to his other sites. None of the sites have any real content, just a few words, a chart and lots of banners. How does he get these ranked? Can I do anything about this, now that I look at the situation, half the sites in top 10 seem to be connected to this guy. If these sites would all disappear I could replace them with my sites easily as I rank right after him.

It's a tough one, mostly because everything I find is in Estonian lol ran some of the sites through seo spyglass, one of the sites had a grand total of 6 backlinks. My best guess is that somewhere there is a huge spam site pointing at this little network. funny that when I try to analyze the backlinks with seo spyglass it's not able to pull up a lot of basic information. I can't think that that would be because the sites are in Estonian. I ran into similar problems when dealing with the hacked sites that Sape uses, they make the high pr ones (their big money ones) impossible to analyze, I couldn't see source code etc. endless loading and errors.

Thanks for trying, I don't have any tools and don't know how to use them. So far it has been easy to rank Estonian sites but not with this one, lots of sites without much content ranking high. I can only hope something will happen to this network.

No surprise.... the term is WEAK in Google.ee

The top site: "www.kiirlaenud.org" is ranking with no backlinks!

The second site "www.kiirlaenud.ee" has over 100 links and most are coming from the same domains and the exact anchor isn't been used much either. That site will probably jump to one if they change their title from "Kiirkaenud.ee" to just "Kiirkaenud".

The 3rd ranking site also has a bunch of weak links (around 70 from 3 domains)!

When a blogspot blog ranks like the one you mentioned it is a clear sign of weak competition... you shouldn't have a problem beating these sites!

That's good news

One of my sites is about 3 weeks old and another one just 4-5 days, hopefully I can outrank the others soon, I'm already on page one for the first site. Just checked kiirlaenud.org. It is obviously not written by an Estonian, more like google translation. It looks a lot like all the other sites in the network of these loan sites without much content, maybe it belongs to the same guy.

You just started optimizing for the keyword. I had a completely different idea of what you were up against, I thought for some reason that you were in hot competition with this site. Obviously if your site is Estonian and your keywords are payday loans then this site is just there from a lack of competition. My fault for not understanding the question perhaps.
