i have a question that i think you guys can help with.
I have all the main social networking/media pages for my organization.

1. what i want to know is, is it possible to back link our facebook, twitter, and all the other social pages and rank them up on google.
obviously we all know that facebook, twitter and all the other main social networking/media sites are very high page ranked. so would it be possible to backlink our social pages and rank them up on google?

2.does google accept facebook and other social pages as like any other site. or do they deny facebook and twitter pages because they are not a full site of an organization? basically, my organization dfw makers club has a website. but also we have a facebook page. now if we backlink our facebook page with the keyword we choose would google accept it? or will they see that our facebook page is not our main website and deny us the backlink and increased rank, since we already have a main website?

3.if backling and ranking up our social pages is possible, what effect would it have on our main website? would we be competing with ourselves? if they all go for different keywords i am guessing than things should be fine.

    I think it's fun that hackers are worried about Google rank too. Did you get kicked out of the big group? You aren't going to knock the big guy out with a facebook page. Create other links to your main site if you want to rank. Facebook is social, traffic but not a ranking strategy jmo

      If you are getting traffic from social site then it gives social signals to Google and it would help in SEO too.

    But he's talking about (I think) trying to get his facebook page to rank for his keywords. I agree yes, facebook brings traffic and Google maybe likes the social signals (?) but he is trying to treat his facebook site like a subsite or a web 2.0

    @OP Is the problem that the traffic to your facebook page isn't getting to your main site? Is your facebook page more popular than your main site? I'm just not sure what you are trying to accomplish? Facebook links are no follow. So really your facebook page can't pass you any link juice.

    However it is possible to rank your facebook page in the Google SERPs if you are so inclined. Look at your facebook page's onsite SEO (yes it still counts) you want your keywords in titles, username, url if possible (would be ideal) Also pay attention to what you post, no willy nilly off subject. Facebook notes are rankable on their own. Facebook pages are ranked internally by facebook as well and it does matter where you stand on FB. log out, go to facebook search for people/places/etc and search for your keywords. ideally you would be the first result that facebook offers.

    Again, I don't think it's going to help if your goal is to use a ranking fb page to push your main page past your competition. technically you have a local search term, maybe try applying local seo? doesn't look like your competitor is doing that. could give you an edge but then again the nature of your business makes me think you might not want google and the whole internet to know where you are
