Niche website relying heavly on YouTube clips

I wanted to see what others thought of this idea...I'm sure it's nothing new, but I couldn't find anything following the same path that I am considering and I am looking for feedback.

Using a specific niche, create a blog that has a post for each related video I can find on YouTube (and other video sites). The video would be embedded into the post and there would be a paragraph or two discussing the video details (all new and original text). In addition to these video posts, I would have the odd quality informational posts that are related to the niche but not to a specific video (so no embedded video here). By far the majority of the posts would be these 'video' posts.

Will this be something that realistically would get ranked in the search engines? Or will the fact that the videos already exsist in YouTube (or wherever) cause Google to ignore the post?

Should I create a YouTube account with a channel dedicated to this niche and collect add any non-copyrighted videos and then embed these into my posts, rather than from the 'other guys' channel?

Thanks in advance for all your comments!

Nothing new to what you're doing. Google will rank your page "despite" re-using the videos. Some people suggest that using You Tube videos will increase rankings, since You Tube is a Google properly. In any event, it won't hurt. It's quite common. Many people recommend doing this. So I'd go ahead and give it a shot. No need to create your own channel. Whether your pages rank obviously depends upon many factors, but using video like this shouldn't hurt your chances, and might help.

What crystal ball do you own that you know that?

I wonder if you people ever read anything writes, because if you
did, you would know that what you are doing is a violation
      of youtube tos.

The video posts are a lame idea. If the videos were yours, it might
be a moot point. But then, that's why people have professional
      (looking) youtube channels.

I still don't know how people know that google will rank a site.

No crystal ball - just my own personal experience:
I have two websites in the video game niche that each receive >2K visitors a day from Google search that are built around other people's videos on Youtube.

Violation of the TOS? Why does Google include an embed feature on Youtube? Users can turn it off if they don't want their video embedded on third party websites.

I still don't know how people know if Google will NOT rank a site.....:p

        Sorry, allow me to rephrase.

Based upon my personal experience with my own sites, I do not believe that putting YouTube videos on a page (even those not owned by me) hurts my rankings. I have several sites that use YouTube videos with many pages with page one rankings.

I have also seen many other sites that utilize the same approach, and they don't appear to suffer in rankings either.

So I believe that right now, at the very least Google does not penalize a site for using a YouTube video, even if that video is not owned by the site owner.

I also do not agree that utilizing YouTube videos in this manner is a violation of their ToS. I understand this is a topic that comes up frequently. And I don't believe it's crystal clear one way or another. I believe it's a grey area. And I think understanding how to play within the grey area is a key to SEO success.

When the rules change, we can adapt. In the meantime, we can profit.

    As Paulgl said,
It would be helpful if you add videos that you own, rather than taking some random videos from Youtube.
