The videos above are from Matt Cutts and Google's Search Quality Team. We have our own set of recommendations and suggestions that we offer to our clients who request for assistance about Google SEO, submitting articles to article directories and content syndication. These suggestions are drawn from my analysis of the things mentioned in the videos above and the results of diverse tests we've implemented for many of our clients in the last 6 years among other credible sources of relevant information. Want to share your thoughts about these things in this thread, all for a possibly useful discussion? Feel free to do so...

I think pretty much the same thing with what he said in the video above:

Websites that syndicate content more than develop their own original high quality content aren't usually high quality sites (except of course authority news sites and some high authority niche sites, but this is just me and not Matt Cutts or the Google Search Quality Team); Syndicated content isn't usually high quality content (except of course breaking news content and some materials from globally and locally renowned niche experts or popular public figures, I think); Syndicated content doesn't usually add value to the experience of viewers on a site (except I assume the content items I mentioned earlier); "Duplicate" content (Matt Cutts' words in the video, not mine) and duplicate anchors won't be good for their SE results index because these aren't good indicators of authority or popularity, and so on...

You have to take what Matt says with a grain of salt and not just except it on face value.

It's just as important to notice what he doesn't/can't say as much as what he does.

What he says is that they are not 'huge fans' of article marketing. He doesn't actually answer the question about how backlinks are treated.

I'm not suggesting article marketing is a good strategy and flame me all you want but I think Matt is a great speaker. Can you imagine though if he said article marketing will or might, help you rank higher in the SERPs? He couldn't admit it even if it were/is true.

There is only one way to know what really works.

I believe he recommends GSA lately, purely as value for money. As long as unique content is manually spun, main anchor text doesn't exceed 17.3% and you don't have more the 37% forum profiles in tier 2.

I do this all the time with anything that's relevant to me and can affect my life, regardless of the source, i.e. My wife, father, mother, business partners, executive associates, employees, clients, colleagues, friends, public personalities, credible organizations, reputable institutions, world renowned experts and so on. Don't you? And, is that the reason why you mentioned this here?

I'm not really sure what your asking Marx, my post is just a statement of my opinion and you asked for our thoughts. It is what it is. I don't have any hidden agenda.

I do actually like to be able to take things on face value though (of course it not often wise) but that's just part of my culture.

          • Paul, I just wanted to know what you intended to achieve with what you said (which I quoted in my post above), because for me, it may come across to others as a statement that is belittling of their intelligence. Why?

In my opinion, it goes without saying that everyone should carefully test and determine the validity of anything they encounter, especially those that could affect their lives (in this case, their livelihood or business). Like I said in my OP:

Your thoughts, relevant experience, test results and analysis about the things Matt Cutts and the other guy in Google's Search Quality Team said in the video would most likely be good things to share and could possibly promote a healthy discussion about these topics in this thread, and I assumed off the get-go that many of those who want to participate in this thread would most likely share relevant things that they have already studied, decided on, tested and have experienced...

Apologies if that's how you interpreted it. It's certainly not how it was intended.
