Hi,

I heard that , dedicated IP is better the shared IP because in shared IP ,if any single website hosted in shared IP gets penalize, then other website hosted on the same ip also gets penalize . What is your idea on this?

Should i shift from Shared to Dedicated hosting?

Which one will be best Hostgator or Bluehost?

Thanks

Shan

Many believe that if you build 20 websites on a shared IP then link all the sites together to create backlinks that Google can more easily find you out since the IP is the same for every site.

The search engines know that 90% of the websites on the internet use shared hosting. You may run into an issue, and "may" should be taken lightly if that IP gets listed for hosting malware/spamming etc. In that case, you should re-evaluate your web host and not use cheap services. The spammers and abusers tend to flock to the cheapest service they can find.

IP addressing classes not exist any longer. CIDR (classless interdomain routing) replaced classful net working in the early 90's. "C Class" is a term used by "know nothings" to sell you snake oil. Unfortunately, it's widely used in the internet marketing & seo world but simply means nothing.

My advice would be to go to a place like Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet and ask for some more info on this - you will get the same explanation by many other qualified & experienced network engineers.

Of course, those selling you so called "seo services" will tell you otherwise as will so called "seo gurus".

Not even this. An IP has no bearing on speed or performance. The sole purpose for having a dedicated IP is for an SSL certificate and possibly applications that require its own IP for licensing. Nothing else.
