Is there a way to find out if there is a problem with my site. I have a content rich blog and have been online for 3 years and only get between 150 and 250 page views a day. I have done keyword research and have tried to optimize my site for seo. And example keyword would be "cordless cellular shades" according to traffic travis it's a easy keyword to rank for. I've have a article up for a while now that was optimized for that keyword and it's buried somewhere in google. Here's a link to the article Cordless cellular shades

Do you have a Google Webmaster Tools account, if so check to see if the new url is indexed there. Also are you building backlinks to your site, if not that could be the problem. Its hard to say without looking at your site.

Like the other guy said are you building backlinks?

3 years is a loooong time. Its not enough to just have content on your site, to get traffic you need to build lots of backlinks, and for as many different keywords as possible.

I visualize SEO like an upside down tree. Some people like the word "funnel" but an upside down tree helps me visualize things better. You have hundreds of tiny little branches everywhere (these should be your keywords), and you should consistently backlink those keywords as often as possible.

Eventually keywords will start to rank, pages begin picking up traffic, and its really that "simple" (conceptually). It just takes a lot of work and knowing how to build quality backlinks in an efficent way.

  • 2point2,

I ran your site through open site explorer. You have no backlinks leading to your site. I did a search using your brand name. Your site came up but there are few other mentions of you in SERP’s. Do you have a physical address? If so, set up business listings on free listing websites, set up a Bing business page and Google Places page. Set up social profiles and share useful content that prospects would find valuable. Start a blog and add content two to three times per week. Just doing onsite optimization is not enough. Also, submitting your site to google and bing webmaster tools is also a good tactic.

Your domain is PR0. As others have said you should get more quality backlinks.

You could also try interlinking your pages more with <a href="http://www.bobtheblindguy.com/cordless-cellular-shades">cordless cellular shades</a> and other keyword variations. Put that into some of your related pages in locations where it makes sense.

I checked in Google, your site has only 151 pages indexed, so you can develop more content to your site, build quality links at regular basis, of course, it is going to help you.

If you are not doing ongoing backlinking 250 views (I guess you meant visitors?) a day is not bad. You can only hope to rank naturally for terms with no or extremely low competition, which may not be the case for your term. Solution? Get someone to build links for you - ongoing!

There are two things that I noticed which need to be fixed.

      1. You have a canonical tag in your source code of that page for which the URL has a trailing forward slash. However your web server is forcing a 301 permanent redirect to the URL without the trailing forward slash. This means that you're telling Google that the correct URL contains a trailing forward slash at the end of it (cordless cellular shades-Pros and Cons of TDBU | Window treatment ideas by Bob The Blind Guy), but then you're redirecting to a different URL (cordless cellular shades-Pros and Cons of TDBU | Window treatment ideas by Bob The Blind Guy).

This is the canonical tag that you have on that page:

      Code:
      <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.bobtheblindguy.com/cordless-cellular-shades/ " />
      2. It looks like you are using two different SEO plugins in WordPress. I can see that you are using All in One SEO Pack and that you are using Platinum SEO Pack. What this is doing is generating two meta description tags and two meta keywords tags. This in and of itself is not a big problem as Google will likely use the first tag it encounters in the code. The meta keywords tag is ignored by the search engines. However in the interest of adopting a best SEO practice you should pick one of those two plugins to use and disable the other plugin.

Everything on-page looks good at a quick glance. But you need to get higher rankings (SEO). Find other blogs with a PR of at least 2 and write high quality content for them.

I too will join that backlinks bandwagon, but I think its important to stress what are QUALITY backlinks. Taking the "easy" route and paying $5- $10 for 10,000)or(100,000+) backlinks is almost always the wrong move! These will get your link on a link farm which many actually penalize you in the results.
Focus on quality and niche relevant backlinks over sheer quantity. It is also my recommendations that you be very careful in paying for backlinks unless you are sure they are built correctly.

Apart from building high quality links, you have to develop high quality content too, the content should be unique and it should be posted progressively for better result.

Also try to do split testing and re-evaluate your website in terms of content, design, navigation, layout, etc.

I also suggest you build more content on-page and off-page. Participate in social media sites to get direct traffic and then just continue to build quality links.

This has been like this for a while. I wasn't sure what to do so I optimized both of them. But if it's best to have one, which it's the recommended one to keep.

I know it is a looooooooong time. I used to use "build my rank" and I was at in the top 20 of google early last year. But they got booted by google and then panda came by and pooof, I was gone.

Giving your site back links is extremely important and optimizing your website on a regular basis is highly important. Optimizing your site does not only mean having quality content because that is only one aspect of Search Engine Optimizing that covers On page optimization. Off page optimization plays a major role in drawing traffic towards your site.

The best off page SEO techniques for you could be the submission of Press Release, Articles, Forum Posting and Blog Commenting. Press release and article submission are highly beneficial as they are thoroughly moderated before being approved to appear over the internet which is a reason enough to give people a sense of reliability over the document. These methods effectively increase traffic and improve the website's rank over search engine. They also play a role in giving your site backlinks.

Remember to carry out off page SEO regularly to witness effective results.
